Rugby League World Cup 2017

France v Lebanon now shown on delay in prime time - 7:30pm NSW; 6:30pm Qld.

wow…do you know why?

50,000 may seem like chump change but there’s the cost of commentators, technicians etc for a tournament no one really cares about. IMG overvaluing another event.

Very similar look to their AFL coverage.

Same font, use of Megawall.

Though not much on field coverage so far, except having JT on the field.
Jim Wilson and the host crew are all in the studio.

Social media already not happy in regional markets (no HD via main channel), Prime7.

That pre-game was AWFUL! Was sourcing the national anthems of every country too hard?

Adrian Morely commentating, I can’t understand a word he is saying.

The referee is wearing a very large camera/microphone headset… must be a Seven initiative?

The score graphic as posted above by @TV.Cynic isn’t red/black like they use for the AFL.

On second thoughts about the scoreboard colour not being red/black and white like they use for the AFL, I’ve just realised the 7 logo in the top right corner is also more orange than it usually is.

A few caps of the set from the pre-match coverage:

Also, a few others…

You can use a vpn and you can get bbc sports extra.

Not sure if the ashes is a good excuse. There is abc sports extra that could have the coverage whilst the cricket is on. Triple M could use classic rock digital, or macquarie could use NTS digital. 2gb could broadcast some games too.

Yet the BBC has radio coverage? It is also probably less popular than the A league in relative terms (as far as football codes goes) over in England. Its the world cup, the number one winter sport in Brisbane and Sydney and its in our own country. Sigh.

On another topic, it is interesting the ground is called the Melbourne rectangular oval not AAMI park on the tv coverage.

Melbourne Rectangular Stadium is its’ name after all… Distinct possibility that like some other World Cups that sponsored stadiums don’t get called by the sponsor name.

ABC Grandstand Extra and Talking Lifestyle will be used to broadcast A-League when the Ashes is on.

They could use abc newsradio as well.

On a positive note , greats its on free to air tv and also online too.

The rights are absurdly expensive. The BBC can afford it because it has seemingly bottomless pits of cash in spite of funding cuts.

And the score graphics look like a tweak on Sky Sport NZ’s usual league GFX.
