More embarrasing when you consider RLWC last night was only in prime-time (share) in 3 markets, one an AFL state and one for only 30min!
Maybe 7mate should now be considered Australia’s 3rd commercial channel, and Ten a secondary channel

Yes, no doubt the International Rules on 7mate in Perth helped.
But the Sydney share from 6pm to 7:30pm for RLWC would’ve been way higher in comparison.

I’d be interested as to who calls the two sem-finals. Mark Braybrook and the team will do the game in Brisbane, while Glen Larmer and the team will do the other semi, as it is in NZ.

The final couple of weeks of this is going to be dismal. Australia will likely romp past Fiji this weekend, then do similar to England/Tonga the week after. NZ’s early exit means ratings will be softer (as even though they were crap, more likely to draw viewers than Fiji this weekend)

I didn’t get to watch a lot of the coverage, but I enjoyed Seven’s coverage generally speaking – their graphics package is boring and plain though imo.
I find their overall coverage better than Nine’s but not as good as Fox’s.

I’ve found it to be really, really flat.
The most interesting game has been New Zealand v Tonga and Lebanon v Tonga and both were a Sky NZ production really
After conceding an early penalty, Australia flexed its muscles in Fiji, eventually winning tonight’s semi final 54-6 at Suncorp Stadium with Valentine Holmes scoring a record six tries. Holmes scored 11 tries in two weeks and 12 for the tournament - breaking Wendell Sailor’s record for the most tries in a single tournament. The Kangaroos will return to Suncorp next Saturday night to face either Tonga or England, and Seven will be hoping for a good audience against the Ashes day/night test. IIRC this will be the first time since 2009 rugby league comes up against cricket in primetime on Australian TV. (In 2009 SBS showed the Ashes series from England while Nine had Friday Night NRL)

England held out Tonga 20-18 in today’s semi final in Auckland and will face Australia in next Saturday’s final. Tonga was robbed of a last minute try.
