Regional Affiliation Swap 2021

I’m surprised the 10/SCA deal does not have some framework around news considering the last SCA deal

At least an agreement to share pictures and news gathering sources and the 10 News First brand

Or an agreement to work together to schedule SCA’s news updates into 10 News First seamlessly at 5 and 6pm

Maybe it does and they’re just not announcing?

10’s press release was a little interesting in stating that ‘no further details’ of the agreement ‘would be forthcoming’.

Would be nice if they did integrate some updates into 5 and 6pm. 10 seem to manage the recorded throw to WIN News alright at the moment…

Yep seems pretty transparent that SCA wants a deal (or buyout, etc.) with Seven.

At the same token though, if Seven buys out the SCA TV business, they’d be in a position to say that they own and operate all Seven stations in state capital cities, and a majority of regional stations (in the east coast at least). They might be able to reach a deal and buy say either Prime NNSW or NRN in future

If Seven were to buy out the SCA TV business, they’d have to sell either TNQ (most likely) or STQ in Regional Queensland.

Yeah if SCA want to exit TV entirely by selling out to 7 it will have to figure out what to do with QLD (who knows if Prime or 10 will have the inclination or the cash to buy it out)

I’d say it would be a symbolic $1 sort of thing.

More details here from Blackely on why they went on a 2 year deal.

11 journalists and editors hired to fulfill local news obligations.

Was hoping they’d be advertising “Turn on 5” for the switch over. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Simple but really nice promo that does the job. Seems pretty good quality too. Will be so nice to have 10 back in regional rather than crapy WIN logos everywhere.

Was probably made by 10 for SCA.

I think regionals would prefer the return of 10 branding rather than the mish mash of Win over the last 5 years.

Yes but a stepping stone for Journalists who want on camera TV experience and full time employment in an ever shrinking industry.

Let’s just hope the quality of the presentation for the regional news updates is better than before, one would hope that’s where the “Ongoing collaboration between us will continue to strengthen our services“ quote comes in.
