Regional Affiliation Swap 2021

Wow, didn’t know they had a page-per-channel TV guide. How did you find that?

They’ve had it for years, since before the last affiliation swap

Head to the TV Guide page. On that page is a printer icon with a drop down menu:

WINEPG

Each one links to the 7 day guide for each channel.

I say the GEM/GO/9LIFE EPGs have been “reactivated” as they previously were there at the above URL’s, all the way til 2019 sometime. If you try a page name that isn’t valid (Edit: for example, /ten/), it will just point you back to the WIN guide. The “Nine” guide is definitely new.

URL’s /eleven/ and /one/ still work, just pointing to their newer names.

Those pages look ancient, both visually and looking at the HTML source; it appears they’re generated by a script.

Noticed the Nine logo file is missing (for the Nine page).

PS: We’ve probably just doubled website traffic to WINTV.com.au!

They are ancient lol, as above they’ve been there for years even prior to affiliation.

I think Southern Cross may have picked up on my link the other day, they edited the 10 Shake EPG page to say “Coming Soon” and removed links to the individual guides.

EPG here in Mildura (a JV location) is all over the place. Win Mildura has Wimbledon listed from Midnight on July 1st, then at 5am Nine Early News, then from 6am it has all of Ten’s line up listed again for the entire day! (No Headline news at 8am though). And Nines EPG currently blank.

There is a new version of the ‘Coming to Channel 80’ promo now airing with Bruce Roberts promoting WIN News plus Nine News and ACA.

About time.

I like the implication of those promos that everyone exclusively watches WIN, so is hearing about Nine News/ACA for the first time.

WIN has been a bit slack tonight in their transitions with some frames of 10 promos slipping through.

Queensland version with Lincoln Humphries.

That happens every night!

Hopefully this means I won’t have to re scan for channels when the switch happens (although maybe still will have to for WIN)

That just reminded me. Brace yourselves. ‘Should I rescan or not’ posts are incoming.

This version of the promo should’ve been airing from the start of this month, not one week before the switchover.

Any idea on what’s occurring with areas like Regional WA, SA and Tasmania?

Will Part 2 of WDT showing scenic loops happen again?

For the Ten channels? Probably!

Regional WA/SA/Tasmania all come under the same affiliation deal for Nine content. All sitting with WIN. Ten is a separate issue - JV in WA and TAS, and solus (WIN) in SA (although I bet that the agreement WIN has signed with 10 edit: for NNSW would likely cover SA and Griffith also)

It’s always facinated me about Darwin media ownership.

PBL/Nine Entertainment invested in NTD-8 ahead of Adelaide and Perth and quite often the news and on air product in Darwin was ahead of those two capital cities pre 2013.

Then local commercial radio is down a few pegs. Surprised SCA does not have a licence up there.

A few years ago NTD was going to merge with Imparja and become a territory wide licence. Thank goodness that didn’t occur given the questionable viability of the Alice Springs broadcaster.

Nah, I think they had the right order - gotta remember that a number of viewers are stupid. The other promo showed that all Nine programming was going to be on 80. This one shows just the news programming - if it had been the other way around, people who have no idea would still think it was just the news changing or if it was a week or two ago people would be tuning in at 5:30 and wondering why WIN News wasn’t there - despite it being mentioned several times and plastered across the screen about July 1, people still won’t get it!

The timing is about what I predicted with it, we’ve hit another trigger point - one week out, expect the promos to ramp up a lot now and the news one is a good one to do as long as people realise it’s going to be from Thursday.

Not sure that the Tas one comes under WIN. I think in the past the agreements for TDT have been done separately and differently as they have been done through SCA. I think the split there is SCA do playout and WIN do advertising which seems to differ from the others. It’s why we got 9Life and other regions didn’t at all. I think it’s much better having it done that way, the WIN areas seem to suffer and wait longer.

They all had their agreements finalised at different times. I don’t think that would have happened if they were all under the same affiliation.

After the 2016 debacle, I wouldn’t be that confident.
