Ready Steady Cook

Easy for Ange to do a report given they filmed this at Pyrmont, in which case I would’ve thought 10 could have produced this inhouse like Dog House etc, but maybe rights were tied to Endemol Shine.

Of note, looks like Woolworths are on board as a sponsor (which I see is confirmed from the B&T story above), good to see some celebrity guests, and some new segments like ‘The Chefs Challenge’.

Looking forward to some banter with Amanda Keller who is one of the guests.

Is this coming out of the 10 Sydney Studios? Where is was originally made in the 2000s.

Correct, it has been filming again in 10’s Pyrmont Sydney studios.

Could it be coming from the same space The Living Room was filmed?

Yes, it’s the same studio. The Sunday Project also comes from this studio.

A very shouty start. This is difficult to watch.

It’s Hayden Quinn and Kimberley Miles (Team Capsicum) v Mike Reid and Kimberley’s friend and neighbour Marcelle Stanbouli (Team Tomato) in the season premiere. Kim previously competed on season 2 of Zumbo’s Just Desserts.

The home cook in the winning team receives a $500 voucher from Woolworths.

Too shouty indeed! I hope Miguel tones it down as the episode goes on.

Good to have the show back. Love Miguel but yes, way too shouty!

They should a quick clip from the “Colin Lane years”. Hayden was a guest on the show alongside his mom. His mum won the cook-out.

Sadly, Miguel is still too shouty, and overdoing his love for the chefs.

And that’s that. At least it kept to a one-hour show, and didn’t run overtime. A rarity for primetime shows.

They need to switch audiences with Deal. Or maybe Miguel is so lively that they just seem dull. He’s really trying to warm them up

Since when do we say mom instead of mum in Australia?

Haha, you are right. A slip of the keyboard. lol. I have fixed it to mum

I love the show, however Miguel is way over the top with his enthusiasm, I hope for the future episodes he has managed to tone it down a notch or three. :crossed_fingers:

Miguel has always been OTT, I didn’t really see anything different here from his usual antics.

I thought it was okay, not great, but a decent alternative for a Friday night. I’d tune in again

Props to 10 for trying something different from their usual offerings - even if it isn’t a new concept.

I agree Miguel is too shouty and forceful. He makes the show come across as a gimmick, in the same cheesy way Grand has done with DOND. They would have been better with a different host - perhaps someone like Julie Goodwin?

Sets also looked quite low budget, but I appreciate these aren’t permanent sets these day.

Daytime television now shown in primetime.

Good little show for Friday nights, but yes like others are saying, Miguel need to just tone it down. I could only image the older demographic are have trouble understanding him.

I feel like sometimes he overdoes the accent. At times it’s very thick, other times he’s very easily understood.
