Ready Steady Cook

He’s not the only one people have trouble understanding. :stuck_out_tongue:

The set is a replica of the set used in the 2020-2021 Rylan Clark-Neal hosted UK revival as well. I suspect 10 and/or Endemol Shine Australia chose to model this reboot on that version as some of the social media graphics also the same graphical elements and typeface as the Clark-Neal version.

note to mods: wasn’t sure whether to post about the previous version here or in tv history thread

The revival of RSC made me go on YT and have a bit of a nostalgic journey at the old show, used to watch it quite a bit and found this one from 2010. Peter Everett era

During the end credits, there was still V/O continuity, Ten must’ve been the only network still doing this let alone daytime TV and in 2010. If Neighbours was only pulling 600k-odd main channel, daytime would’ve been what, 400k-ish max? "New White Collar tonight, next on Ten, Judge Judy.

Also noticed sometime between 2007 and 2009 they’d changed the classification from G to PG and added Supertext (closed captioning).

I also miss that Endemol-Southern Star ender, SS productions but for Endemol formats, was always a stylish production tag to end a episode and you knew you were watching good TV back then (also responsible for Big Brother). SS were also doing Sea Patrol and Rush and came off 13 years of Heelers.

Anyway, memories. The new show definitely different to these, it is strange seeing it in prime time though. I think it’ll struggle against Better Homes, Gardening, AFL, NRL, etc. Could’ve tried Saturday nights.

Note to Sully: it doesn’t really matter. You can mix past and present versions here. It gives a chance to compare.

I’m in!

Chefs Sergio Perera and Sarah Todd feature in this Friday’s episode.

Idk about Miguel as host. I think I’d prefer Colin Lane. Watched the first show on Tenplay. TBH, Miguel was too energetic.

Watching the episode tonight and the prize for the winners was a $500 Woolies voucher.
Geez, Woolies, seriously? Not even $1000?
You made over a $1b profit last year!!!

Just catching up. Why was there an Easter special last week? Wouldn’t this have made sense this Good Friday? There’s a new episode scheduled then. Weird programming.

Repeated on both days?

What do you mean?

As in is it repeated on Good Friday?

No I’m saying wouldn’t it have made sense for the Easter special to air this Friday?

They have a new regular episode scheduled so they could have just switched them so the Easter one is aired closed to Easter rather than last week.

Part of the enjoyment for the old episodes was the recipes being available to cook for yourself. Perhaps they thought people might want to cook some of the Easter recipes over the Easter holiday and airing on Good Friday would be too late for people to organise and cook them. I haven’t watched the episode so I am not sure of the meals cooked.

It was a good episode last night. I know Adriano is a dessert master but he was good in making savoury dishes too. He won the home cook challenge (mother v daughter, mother was on Adam’s team).

In round 2, Adriano chose sweets and made deep fried ice cream with strawberry and passion fruit sauce, but Adam won with his creation of curried pasta.

Next week:

Miguel Maestre is joined by Hayden Quinn and Khanh Ong, as well as Bachelor couple Matty Johnson and Laura Byrne. Contestants have to cook five ingredients for round one. Khanh will be cooking with Laura, while Hayden will be cooking with Matty.

Later Hayden and Khanh compete for the bronze ladle, using only ingredients from a double beef cheeseburger.
