Ratings Predictions

What reason have GFK, CRA or ABC given for why survey results are not consistently released on the long standing day, Tuesday?

So many excuses the past couple of years with covid, what’s their excuse for the survey being released tomorrow?

And most of the drive shows are from Melbourne anyway. (Will & Woody, Carrie & Tommy etc)

It was a public holiday in WA on Monday, so possibly because of that. Thursday release tends to be the standard when there’s a public holiday on the Monday.

I got today’s ratings wrong almost everywhere. I did get excited with the increase to DAB+ listeners across all the metro markets.

Who thinks the demise of 693AM will go faster or slower than the demise of 104.1FM when K&J left?

Any ratings predictions for the survey following the launch of SENQ?

I guess it depends when during the ratings period they blow it up? If it’s halfway then they’ll get some of the good 4KQ ratings before the nil SEN ratings.

I’m actually super curious to see if the ratings go up first given all the talk of it closing, plus their feature weekends going every weekend so far. Makes it so bittersweet. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go out on top.

They will drop to a 1.5 share in their first book. You’ll see 97.3 and maybe Triple M get a nice little boost.

Here’s a bit of a reference guide.

  • The last full survey for 4KQ will be Survey 4, to be released on Tuesday 5th July, only a few days after the station shuts down.

  • The first survey that partially covers SENQ after 4KQ’s demise will be Survey 5, to be released on Tuesday 23rd August. The survey would also cover the final weeks of 4KQ. It is possible that it may not be listed for that survey, similar to when 2CH’s AM licence became SEN.

  • The first full survey for SENQ will be Survey 6, to be released on Tuesday 27th September.

The “Other Stations” might see a boost too. For reference, the “Other Stations” ratings in the most recent survey was 17.3%. Could we see it go above 20% by the end of the year, as 4KQ listeners go to Community Radio & fringe commercial stations such as Breeze, Rebel & River?

The other stations should definitely get a boost. Maybe a small bump for 97.3 and Triple M but I don’t think much. The biggest bump should be 4BH.

You would also think ARN would have some sort of promotion happening at the time for River 94.9… If they don’t then they’re clueless.

Proven: ARN remain clueless.

No such promotion occurred.

The main reason the watch was in short supply is that 2,000 of them (400 in each metro market) have already been deployed and have been busily recording the wearers’ listening habits, ready to be included with the results of Survey 1, this Thursday – except no one, other than top brass at CRA and GfK, will get to see the actual results from those watches till later this year. When? ‘Before June,’ according to CRA CEO Ford Ennals, who admitted to being a little cagey as to when the watch will be fully operational and integrated into the public results.

It’s not a hard bet that Kyle and Jackie O will smash it at 9:30 today - they’re the only show being talked about in Sydney. All the other FM breakfast shows are sounding flat and their content sounds like they’re just going through the motions.

You’ve got to imagine K&JO will either knock off Fordham or be damn close to it.

Probably. But I’ll never understand why people listen to that stuff.

Yeah each to their own. In my case, the show’s a guilty pleasure and some politically incorrect fun which breaks up the monotony of my day. I also think Kyle’s bloody hilarious.

I listen because it’s the best hit music playlist compared to Nova and 2Day.
