The only show that I can remember that was renewed for another season and then axed in the same week. Was a very bizarre finish to the show, I did enjoy that one with Shaun on his High Horse and other segments. In the last episode aired he did call the Channel Nine switchboard to put in a complaint about his own show. Can’t remember what it was for but I did have all the episodes somewhere, I reckon they’re on a random hard drive I have lying around.
As everyone knows, the Alan Jones skit blew it personally with Packer. In saying that with the way Nine operated back in those days I can’t imagine it would have survived more than a second season.
Nine couldn’t handle Shaun’s style of comedy.
Ah yes, can’t believe I forgot that one! It wasn’t even that bad.
Yes, even at the time I thought it was an odd combination for him to be at Nine.
He was up against Andrew Denton’s Enough Rope which would’ve been a tough ratings battle.

Talk about a real dog… here’s a random episode of Seven’s 2002 game show stinker Dog Eat Dog. Lasted two episodes Friday 7.30pm before being yanked off until summer. You can kinda see why. Pity the host Simone Kessell, who someone at Seven must have hated - her other credit for them was Thorpey’s Undercover Angels - another stinker.

So was this the big replacement for Friday Night Football then?
Although the game premise itself wasn’t horrible, it felt like it was trying to play off the supposed meanness of The Weakest Link, only more so (sounds like the BBC were looking for that as the chronology of the original UK versions of both were similar), and I dunno, the mood of it felt really off after a year or so of that game.

Even though it’s still reading without a teleprompter, it definitely looks chalk-and-cheese (in a positive way) compared to the old-school slide deck backgrounds in those 1979 tapes floating around YouTube. The only unfortunate thing is it didn’t change a heck of a lot from this in presentation in the following 30 years…

That bin is a survivor. The spaces on the side held the divider for people to separate their paper and cardboard from everything else.

There’s also dotty-WIN, green waste bins down in the Shoalhaven as well. I spotted one at a nursery near Shoalhaven Heads a few days ago.
