Nicely animated PRG

My favourite 80s PRG animation is this ATN-7 Sydney one (at 2:54 in the video below)

As a bonus, the fantastic ‘rainbow’ “All The Best” ID is at 4:34 as well.

That PRG animation of course based on this:

Apart from the “6” one posted above, I did like TV8’s from the mid-1980s – probably because they were the first ‘animated’ ones I’d seen (although GMV6 had a “spinning” logo before the version posted above) and for whatever reason none of the Melbourne channels did animated ones until well into the 1990s.

memories of watching TV8 (via BCV Bendigo) particularly in the mid-80s when on Saturday afternoons when there is no football or Spring Racing Carnival on they showed mostly old TV shows such as the Honeymooners, and westerns. I spotted an ad for a Gippsland-based jewellers chain at the beginning of the video. It was on occasions that Gippsland ads crept in to the Bendigo feed during ad breaks, this was more common after 1973 when BCV and GLV merged to form the Southern Cross Austereo network we know today.

I suspect that the animated 7 would have been off a videotape with the text added in by computer.

Here is RTS5A’s effort from 1984. Just a very simple slide, nothing else.

I remember watching these. It was a great look into the early days of “the Sale”. Thankfully some people recorded these because I bet that the original tapes are long gone now.

Makes you wonder how many Nine actually held on to.

Grundy/Fremantle might have them but whether they are still usable is another thing.

A search on The National Film and Sound Archive shows they have 762 episodes at least.

1980-1989 276
1990-1999 341
2000-2009 145

Considering over 4000 episodes were produced, that seems a very low number.

Fremantle do have a whole heap of episodes on their servers digitised. Not all unfortunately. I supposed some were wiped or discarded when the tapes were at GTV.

Still enough for a “Classic Sale” multi channel!

Thank God the very first episode was saved!

It could be a possibility. Fremantle International has created Family Feud and Supermarket Sweep FAST channels for platforms such as Plex, Tubi, Amazon Freevee, Redbox, Sling , WatchFree and Samsung TV Plus in the US and UK.

Definitely. Even a “Classic Quiz” FAST channel would keep me happy.

Also, maybe we could start a thread on overseas channels that had logos or idents that were inspired by or copied from Australian channels
