It appears to be from Nov 1986.
For reference:
Nine were still using these program titles in at least the early 2010s! With programming documents still in a typewriter font (at least GTV station - even though probably compiled in Sydney), as seen and AFAIK still available on TVT under Guides for a respective year.
Such as “The Late Late Movie” (usually after midnight).
In 2008 this timeslot often aired WB or Roadshow titles, usually first runs, even though some 8 years give or take down the track, clearly ones they had as part of those outputs, but didn’t feel suitable for prime time back when they could’ve premiered it, pre m/c of course. One I recall was the 2001 JLo thriller Angel Eyes.
i would guess that’s just discolouration on the VHS?
Also known as the “Go The **** To Sleep Movie”
It appears that I have gotten this one wrong. The whole recording has 2DayFM on it.
Perhaps whoever recorded it plugged their VCR into their Hi-fi system i.e. it wasn’t broadcast as such?
Network 0-28, Bringing the World Back Home…
That ID was actually more soothing than the Network 0-28 one.
Back in the day, SBS was certainly different.
It certainly fit the intent of the channel a lot more. Before it ended on Foxtel SBS World Movies seemed to fit the of the bill than SBS itself even if it was only movies that couldn’t be shown on FTA.
BTW all the caps are from tapes that I have so will be uploaded in due time.
When did start using SBS branding (in lieu of 0-28) on screen?
18 February 1985
Channel 0 began transmission on 24 October 1980.
On 14 October 1983, it changed its name to Network 0-28.
On 18 February 1985, the name changes again, this time to SBS TV.
In March 1993, the channel’s new logo was introduced, featuring five blue curved splices, described as the “Mercator” logo (named as the shapes look like a Mercator globe in 2D).
From Logopedia.
Hard to believe it’s been 31 years since they started using the Mercator logo.
