TVQ also used the following during their “hippie phase”

TVQ had a hippie phase?

I think I can now recall that this was the theme music used for TVQ when they used Alive O logo… Though not 100% sure.

The logo was a heart and the theme was the world needs love not war as in the theme music.

Probably around the time Seven was in their Revolution phase.

The Seven Revolution which was a promotion / programming revamp under Bruce Gyngell. It was in Sydney and Melbourne around 1969-70. Unsure if it carried to other cities.

Could never imagine a TV station using that slogan again!

Any other 1980s kids remember TV Ontario’s “Read All About it” on the ABC?

Even Number 96 back in the day, despite its huge popularity the network is said to have pressured producer Bill Harmon to turn Don Finlayson (Joe Hasham) straight, even though Don was one of the show’s most popular characters.

Harmon called them out on it and said if he has to change the character then he’ll pick up the show and take it to another network. He won that battle.

Though it was a bit of a grey area around the camp Dudley Butterfield (Chard Hayward). Dudley was always supposedly bisexual but was long attached to Don, but towards the end of his run in the show they turned him “straight”. But the series had well jumped the shark by this stage and the character was gunned down when Hayward left the show.

Most of us will remember last time 10 went into receivership, in September 1990. The network was sold by Westpac Bank to CanWest in 1992.

Thank you for sharing the information. I never knew about Dudley and Number 96 just others from the 90s and more recently. Great to hear about someone standing their ground and insisting on integrity. Sad to see nothing much has changed since the 70s.

He was the face of television journalism in Queensland throughout the 80s, known for his ruthless interviewing that rattled the cages of even the toughest of politicians.
