Another article. A really good read.
Great stories about E Street but curious that they have both come from the
“legal affairs reporter at The Sydney Morning Herald”
She must have been a fan! (either that, or it’s a quiet time in the legal sector at the moment??)
Especially as she is credited as supplying the image used in the larger article. Must have been from her collection
I always found the character a bit precocious, but the character was an eight year old girl who lives in the suburbs. How exactly should they have cast her?
That was my first thought when I saw the byline
Can anyone shed some more light on the early history of The Morning Show / GMA with Bert.
From what I know, it was titled The Morning Show for the first series and originally came from Nunawadding, did it move at the same time as 10 News? Did it start its life with the advertorials or were they added later? Any other significant early history?
I don’t know much more than you already know.
It started as The Morning Show in 1992, originally 8.30-10am. Based at Nunawading AFAIK. I am only assuming that the infomercials were there from day one.
I don’t know the timeframe for when it moved to Como, probably later that year as news did. For some reason September springs to mind as the date Ten launched at Como but I could be wrong there.
The show became Good Morning Australia in February 1993 after the breakfast show of the same name was axed.
There are some YouTube clips from 7 February 1992 and in one clip Bert says that it is their third week.
yes it began on 20 January 1992, the same day Ten launched the news at 5.00.
And Hinch?
I can’t make out the picture propertly but is that a C-31 logo in the top right corner? That was Sydney’s community TV channel before TVS took over.
EDIT: This archived page linked from Wikipedia indicates that C-31 had a program called Arabic ABC TV

It looks like it. Likely to be from a 1998 recording.

This has just been brought to my attention. Scroll down to the comment post: ATV0 station ident from 1972. I think apart from the 1960s “ATV Channel 0” idents that have been circulating for years, this is the earliest one I have seen.

That theme music was was also used in Queensland - can’t at the moment remember if it was TVQ or not.
the music sounds familiar though i certainly don’t remember it from 1972! Is it taken from a more familiar piece of music?
There’s only one O in Melbourne!
