I think it’s based on alternative universe concepts for ITV UK, back when regional brands were used over a national brand.
I’m all for diversity in the content but they all seem very obscure.
If they’re not suitable please tell me and I’ll stop posting.
Look great. Much better.
Small change I’d make:
- Use a similar gradient that Fox uses (left to right instead of top to bottom)
- Use a thicker font for Q2 and the score breakdown. Too thin and would be hard to read on small screens.
Might we be seeing something like this in North NSW?
10 News Local branding inspired by @NaruTVMock’s SCA Canberra mock 2 years ago. Thought WIN would probably still assert their name in it so added the “Powered by” byline in place of the region name.
Or how about beefing it up with supers to match? Graphics adopted from CBS O&Os (with the call letter boxes and headlines). The old WIN TV logo under 10 affiliation made an appearance too.
Also in regional news… Got a request from @Radio_TVGuy asking me to do defunct regional Nine (and WIN) News bulletins in the style of the 9News Tas mock I did a while ago. I just did 2 of them to be less unwieldy.
Thought the white-on-blue tone in some frames of the 9News intro was good to distinguish the regionals versus metros. Had a hard time to extract the dotted globe and tune the colours (and not the best at it too)… Background graphics based on a breaking news pic on Twitter that’s white-on-red, so it’s a giant plastering project all over
Saw people at Pres Cafe complaining BBC News using the bright red supers in covering Pope Francis’s funeral, so I turned to the Election graphics (that we may see again for the UK Local Elections!) once again. I did the red heading one first, but found the all-black version looked better. Fun fact - I used the colour scheme in the Action Line slides for the black gradient!
What did BBC News use for the Queen’s funeral coverage?
Those 9NEWS mocks actually look spot on. Especially this Your Central Vic Your News promo, well done.
In an alternate universe, Nine owns and operates the Nine stations on Channel 8 and provides a dedicated regional news service for Central Victoria. Local news mixed in with State, National and International news, and providing a dedicated local voice for Bendigo and Central Victorians.
In reality, WIN owns and operates the Nine stations on Channel 8 and provides a statewide Regional Victoria bulletin for Central Victoria. Mostly news from Western Victoria, Gippsland and the Goulburn Valley, with the odd Bendigo headline here and there. Local weather remains.
The same also applies to the Sunshine Coast haha. Nice opener design for the Sunny Coast edition BTW, if it was still around today it would definitely bring 7NEWS Sunshine Coast some serious competition.
For the actual funeral, none except the special opening titles. Most of the recordings online seem to came from BBC One though, with the NC taking the continuity announcements there after the ceremony.
but to be fair, they were still using the black supers for normal reports then, so it might have been less intrusive if used.
Those Nine News mocks are gorgeous. They should adopt a similar look for the metro bulletins.
I do like the inverted colours as well.
Looks amazing! Great work!
Could make good use of the iPhone’s dynamic island like they do for sports
Great idea! Would love to see this in action next time.
Think this is pretty accurate. With the recent news of SWM acquiring SCA’s remaining TV assets, including in Tasmania (the market they really wanted all this time), here’s the new-look 7NEWS Tasmania for the very first time, before the network actually unveils the changes. Yes, this is a mock, but it’s what we can expect soon.
I can hear it now:
“Live from Launceston, Seven News with Kim Millar.”
I can’t see that they would change to being location specific with Launceston or Hobart, more likely to leave it at something generic like ‘Tasmanian studios’.
Or just “Live from Tasmania”
More likely “Live from Hobart” if it were to become a reality.
