more quick alterations to Gold (with my hybrid WS/Gold101.7 logo from last year too)
I like it!
I like the idea. I think the news name is too small though.
I also have an idea on this look. I’ll try and post it soon
absolutely love it, and 10’s branding has adapted well to the new EN branding, however feel that the title cards are inconsistent with the 10 logo in the late news logo, but not in the News at 5 logo
feel it should be consistent, regarfless of decision of not including it in news at 5
Limited time tonight so it’s far from perfect, but I will play around and attempt to animate it over the coming week. The idea is that the 10 logo is the basis for the broadcast logo lockup. The equivalent of the CBS eye logo shots are of the 10 logo in a beveled format (solid) which then transitions to the ring version, it then separates to create “10 news” like below.
Again I haven’t been able to spend a whole lot of time on this, hopefully you get my drift though.
Starting with this as the wide shot, then zooming into the zero to show the bulletin name similar to the size of the CBS News example could be a useful workaround to the bulletin names being so small.
Excellent work nonetheless!
Decided to modify BBC’s election graphics to illustrate what I meant in another thread…
The timeline design on the continuing coverage pushback is based on their desktop Live News page. Also decided the surrounding graphics is red enough to put the BBC News logo on white instead.
In comparison, this is what they used in covering 2 headline stories:
This post was aged well - Nine uses the flat logo now, only got to change the PRGs now!
What a day that would be, and AFL injury on the BBC!
I do love this design, however could the text get lost without a solid background on more varied vision?
A bit France 24-esque with the thin box borders and gradients… The programme slugs have too much empty spaces for accommodating the custom graphics though.
Some ideas on bringing CBS Weekend News closer to the new Evening News supers…
Cold open
1 - Used the same text position as the current ones, but replaced the box with an edge gradient (I couldn’t recreate the exact gradient they used on EN!).
2A&B - For the headlines, I wanted to use the same dot heading as EN does during breaks, and needed a way to animate it from the CBS logo. A vertical variant of Gretel’s deconstructed eyemark could work, but a bit too detailed for such tiny space. Partly inspired by it and partly inspired by how the bulletpoints move in EN when presenting infographics, I used the center ‘pupil’ pulling upwards with a trail and showing the headline, while drawing the transparency of the wordmark out to be a watermark. Crude pair of storyboards to show how it works.
3 - Unified the Israel-Gaza war subheading in the rounded rectangle device (used in the Eye on America America portion of their pre-launch promo).
Supers
A - Figured they could utilise the rounded box and the orange gradient from the circle EN logo more to stand out. The pill shape for the correspondent location is originally extended to the edge (like the World Temp/Finance Index pushbacks), but decided against it.
B - A unified gradient fade. Not sure if the W/M needs to be there all the time though!
“Still ahead” headlines
A - Subheading style taken from EN’s RoundUp segment.
B - Centered the text to accommodate and mix more elements from the wipes they’re using (the outlined eyemark, pattern and the main dot device)
And breathe…
Much better. Should look exactly like this.
Reworked my earlier attempt, took all the feedback onboard. Made the bulletin titles consistent with the 10 logo, made them larger and added a few more visual flourishes to match the static CBS Evening News graphics.
Just using CBS’ actual background as I can’t get close to matching how good the above is, but figured they could localise the branding a bit more.
I love this! Just yeah the eye would only work if it was called eyewitness news still haha
This looks lovely, but I think it’d be better if it was just a big 10News logo, then any subtitle (at 5pm, etc) was underneath.
Not really a mock, more of a concept, but what if 10 did a 24/7 news service.
It could air 10 News First Lunchtime at 1pm AEST
10 News First Afternoons at 3.30pm AEST
10 News First Sydney at 5pm AEST
10 News First Adelaide at 6pm AEST
10 News First Perth at 7pm AEST
10 News First Brisbane at 8pm AEST
10 News First Melbourne at 9pm AEST
10 Late News at 10pm AEST
Outside of the bulletins, compile crime documentaries, archive footage of old news bulletins maybe on major events, and regional news compilation of stories and updates to make up the schedule. They could also air CBS Mornings either live following the late news or at 6am like a breakfast show. It’d be a fairly low-cost service to run I’d think that could raise brand awareness/people know what 10 News First is and could get money from news junkies & MediaSpy archival people alike
They could call it 10 News FAST as it’d be a FAST channel and it sounds like 10 News First. Or, they could be boring and call it 10 News First 24/7.
