Maybe consider inverting the red/white to white/red for the ‘Breaking’ graphic to better align with the studio graphics and maintain a consistent look. Additionally, I’d suggest keeping the logo bug blue across all supers, as the red bug gives it a resemblance to ACA rather than 9News.
Reminds me of the recent addition of Gold branding to Triple M Gold 92.5.
Some random news channels stuff for the end of the year…
Back in the first US Presidential debate, I read that neither TVNZ nor Three took the news coverage, especially when the owner of the latter has CNN as their US sister.
So I imagined a ‘CNN on Three’ coverup for the debate graphics, which wasn’t an accurate recreation of CNN’s current supers and utilized the purple blurb device for Three.
I revisited the idea a few months later, thinking if WBD went the other way, and could’ve ‘elevated’/downgraded Newshub into a ‘CNN Three News’, with minimal anchoring from NZ and most news footage sourced from CNN.
I did two versions on the supers: One’s the current ones, and the other my own spin on them. I kept the transparent anchor picture when I made the Stuff Newshub mock, and I substituted the Stuff background with a brilliant CNN mockup backdrop on Behance, plus covering the desk deco with a glowing CNN logo block (inspired by this set photo).
TVN in Poland also rebranded this year, and I thought to bring the updated symbol and animation to their news channels, TVN 24 and TVN 24 BiS (finance channel) and also bring the latter’s supers in line with the former (last updated in 2023). The bug looks a bit like 10, I know…
And a weird idea for BBC News: Like how US local news start their headline sequences from the previous programme’s end credits (like this), the national/regional headlines for, say, News at 1, can start from the broadcaster’s end-credit promo cards.
Unfeasible, given BBC’s cross-promotion and credits typically last much shorter than the American ones (and the window is too small for the newsroom!), but still…
ABC News Breakfast supers if they used the News Breakfast logo in them like Today & Sunrise do.
Mock made in Canva - feel free to remake in a better app if you want to
The supers remind me of the 2011 package. I like the ‘news’ in the ticker.
They actually did do this back in the mid 2010s, with a short preview of the News at 10 appearing in a window during the end credits of an evening program. In the exact same way you’ve described. I haven’t seen it more recently, presumably something that they’ve done away with.
Now for the tongue-in-cheek mocks
I was placed fourth in the top 5 active mockers of 2024 but congratulations,@MichaelPower - you are the best!
Can we also get the amount of 7NEWS Unstoppable (Tongue-in-cheek) mocks posted during the past few months since their campaign launched? Would love to see if mine made the cut! ![]()
just that reinstatment of the older typeface makes the logo 10 times better imo
Stumbled across this online:
NINE NEWS Australia concept art :: Behance
Don’t love it but they’ve done a decent job on the execution
Seems this concept art aimed to reinstate and/or recreate something similar to the 2006–2008 ‘flying billboard’ eras
I like elements - but agree some of it isn’t perfect and way too busy…
I think would have been a good succession from the last package. I like the use of the glass for the billboard and the backdrop elements, however the glossy logo and the colouring looks weak in it.
I like the below if it was to be straightened
This guy is the same one who did the 2018 Today logo and has done past ACA packages,
I have previously done many mocks of Triple M based on the original logo, but this is the first time I have tried something completely different.
I have used the same colour scheme as the current logo, but have made the design more sharper and striking. The logo is designed as a stack, so it can be incorporated into square icons. The sharp points on the top of the ‘M’s is a nod back to the original logo.
For those of you who are wondering where the third ‘M’ is, it is between the top and bottom ‘M’s as a reversed letter.
Love it. Very “Batman-ish” and very masculine. Goes well with Hit’s “H” too.
Based on these new CBS News titlecards, i thought i’d have a play around and make something similar with 10 News branding.
Anyone who’s better at mocking, feel free to have a play around with this Canva link.
(I’ve only done one mock in the past, so naturally this isn’t going to be very good…)
