And what if The Breeze’s three breakfast programmes (from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch) became available to listeners in parts of the upper North Island, the lower North Island and the South Island (including the three main cities themselves) depending on where they are in the country?
Robert & Jeanette (Auckland)
Mid North 100.7FM
Whangarei 90.8FM
Auckland 93.4FM
Rodney 104.9FM
Thames/Hauraki 90.8FM
Pauanui/Tairua 90.7FM
Mercury Bay 96.7FM
Whangamata 99.5FM
Rotorua 91.9FM
Taupo 100.8FM
These would replace the part-networked breakfast programme with Justin Rae.
The Breeze’s local breakfast programmes in the Waikato (Stu & Camille), Tauranga (Jolene & Max), Hawke’s Bay (Martin & Jacque), Manawatu (Burnzee), Nelson (Blair Kiddey), South Canterbury/North Otago (OJ) and Dunedin (Damian & Hannah) would not be affected.
bit of a WIP for a proper-relaunched BBC News - supers, and opening titles are on the way, but here are the closing titles to start off with, in BBC Chameleon style!
A “New” take on an old logo. As the current logo appears as NEWFM 105.3, I have decided to remove the “FM” from the title, as we all know it’s an FM station from the frequency!
@OnAir When Shakedown on TV3 (now Three) ended in mid-1991, Great Pacific Entertainment (an independent production house run by the Wrightson family) took over the production of Pepsi RTR Sounz! and Pepsi RTR Countdown from TVNZ.
They also produced Pepsi RTR Top 40 as a Saturday morning replacement for RTR Sounz!, which was transferred to 9am on a non-commercial Sunday morning and extended to two hours in duration, but the timeslot for RTR Countdown (Saturdays at 6pm) stayed exactly the same.
Back in my day I saw the original Great Pacific Entertainment logo/endcap (which was shown at the end of the Pepsi RTR shows since the company took over production) via VHS recordings as a youngster; however, there are no signs of the logo via YouTube at the moment, so I created a mock endcap. It looks similar to the original.
bit of a draft of a new BBC News title sequence - I was inspired by @Medianext.MX with using the imagery from the BBC News online in the title sequence, but I decided to use it more as a timeline - the top story that was either on the NC, or the News website throughout every hour, in the animation, it would move across the hours, and then transition into the News logo, and eventually the studio pan shot. More to come soon including supers, and hopefully an animated version - thoughts?
Liking both the storyboard of the opener and the closer you made; however, I will suggest you make the animations a bit smoother and less faster; additionally, when the BBC logo appears, there is some misalignment, so some work to do. But it looks quite promising and certainly something to follow.
Some weird thoughts about this sequence: The timeline can be used as a breakfiller as well!
1: Label it with years instead of time, and it can be a return of the This Week in History segment back in mid-2000s, this time actually capable of describing a week of historical events as it scrolls through.
2: Change the exact time, and you get a timeline for brief follow-ups of developing events, just like how they do it on their website.
Probably a bit more interesting and informative than the countdown…
Staying with BBC News, what if they centred the rings animation in the new Context open?
Back to my own vision of the graphics, I was inspired by the new CBS News’ local graphics, specifically neatly tucking the live weather map with the supers in and out of weather forecasts when a severe condition’s coming.
Perhaps this style can also be used in live coverages with two locations, with a shortened headline super and a little PIP box in the corner, rather than overlapping the two footages?
Good ideas! I’ve been thinking about the countdown too, but just bringing back the menu from the 1999-03 News 24 days, but then realised that it’s not possible. I do miss the older-style breakfillers though - specifically the 1999-03 World one.
I prefer your Context titles to the official ones - I have to agree with you and hope their obsession with cornered graphics end soon…
I do like your graphics, but can’t help but feel the main headline strap is unreadable in some situations.
I’ve played around with some graphics myself (and thanks to @Biscuit45 for his opinions on it too <3), thoughts?
