He says before he makes a map with the east coast cluttered with cities…
The current map does a few too many I agree and should be more streamlined, but simply pretending that the rest of Australia don’t exist isn’t helpful either. Including a few select towns in regional WA, the NT and Far North SA gives you just enough coverage to make everyone happy.
For a national map, Brisbane/Gold Coast and Melbourne/Geelong are close enough to have the larger city cover both. Could possibly use the same argument for Brisbane/Sunshine Coast/Toowoomba and Sydney/Newcastle.
As I said, I made it to cover the 15 largest population centres, rather than filling in all the blank gaps in WA, etc. with tiny places that aren’t nationally significant.
Yes, the east coast is a bit cluttered, but it makes more sense for the east coast (with the larger population centres) to be cluttered, rather than the west coast as it is now.
I don’t have any issues with having a few random locations in regional, WA, NT, etc. on the map, but I think it’s more important to cover the larger population centres first.
My version of the map covers 76.5% of the population of the country in the one map.
Decided to evolve the mockup I have been working on for 1News. Note the introduction of an “Early” bulletin, which in reality would air at 5:30am going directly against TV3’s AM Early, only the TVNZ version would be branded 1News First.
What if New Zealand had yellow school buses? I have put the Waka Kotahi brand on it as we don’t have one bus company that services the whole country. If you look closer to the door it say “Serviced by Howick & Eastern” (local bus company)
