Here are the playlists from the last few days, programs will be uploaded soon. Charles presented the monthly top 25 of June 1990, and all round fantastic list, but for one absolute stinker, Guru Josh’s “Time for the guru”, that track has always been one of my personal hates. During my show I continued with the timewalk theme, starting from April 1985 gradually moving forward to February 1986.

@anonymousbroadcaster I am loving the shows Mark and your good self put on the wireless. I can’t get enough of your shows. I feel spoilt getting it 4 nights a week. I know the fresh mix is 24/7 but love the themes and having you and Mark back announce. Well done.

@dxnerd Great show as well on Braidwood FM this week. With your themes/segments as well and weather forecasts.

Have 2OOO pushed your show back two hours? Sorry to hear that if so, even worse if it is going to disappear altogether.

Sorry to hear about your mum too, hope she’ll be okay.

Thanks, your sentiments are much appreciated. yes, she’s fine and going well at the moment. The great news is that her cancer count has gone way way down, this has really lifted everyone’s spirits.

Yes, it seems they have pushed our show back two hours, we didn’t know that, until about a week in. The station manager did send us an SMS, but by the time that got through, we were back at our old slot, 10pm to midnight, then we were off the air.

One of my other friends noted that we were on from 2am to 4am. By that time I was pretty cross with this station’s management. As noted above, I then handed in my resignation and was pretty much through with the radio thing.

This week, I had to take a week off work for taking care of my mother, and while preparing the night before going down the south coast, one of my other friends informed me that we were now on between midnight and 2am. I quickly tuned into 2OOO to see what was going on, fired up the old broadcasting software, and had a bit of fun with the old K-tels.

Just got back tonight, and wile unpacking away stuff, quickly chucked on another playlist,

Not sure if I can upload all of them, not all were recorded as some of these were pulled together on the spir of the moment. I’ll look into what shows were recorded and if I have some time hopefully next week, I’ll put them up.

Pick of the bunch for me. I often play this one hard up against the Nirvana song…

we’ve lost complete contact with 2OOO FM, however we seem to be on Midnight to 2am every day of the week now. If I’m still up, I’ll log into our Wollongong studios, and play an entire 80s comp. Last night it was Shakin 1984.

https://www.discogs.com/master/392319-Various-1984-Shakin

Tonight playing Choose 1985.

With over 900 comps, got plenty to roll through.

I think I did a selection from Choose 1985 for a Missing Six one week, good idea.

Including Saturday and Sunday they just log into the “fresh mix” stream? That is kinda of bizarre but nothing surprises me these days. I am normally not listening to the radio that hour of the night but I am sure some shift workers would enjoy the music.

yes, we seem to be on seven days a week now. Funny thing is my heart is not into radio anymore, however due to the fact that 2OOO FM are still syndicating us, I kind of in a weird sort of a way still feel obliged to still put something up.

I know it’s kind of lazy just putting on an entire compilation, but back in the 1970s 1980s, and early 1990s, these things were actually a lot of serious fun to listen to all the way through.

That kind of started changing around 1995 when hip hop, grunge, and heavy rock started dominating the charts, (Oasis, Presidents of the United States, Silverchair, and etc), they were still some good hit machines during the late 90s, but this kind of stuff completely dried up by 2001 2002.

Don’t know what it was, but everyone i knew from relatives, to school friends, to family seemed to have had a copy of this cossette. I eventually got the record second hand, but indeed it was one of the more popular comps, I think because of “Ghostbusters”, “Sunglasses at night”, and “What’s love got to do with it”. These were massive hits at the time; EMI certainly pulled off a coup there.

Here is the playlist to my last curated show from Friday last week.

I’ll be doing a one off show tonight…

Yesterday in Coles, they played Lou Bega’s Mambo #5, which reminded me that that track was number one on my chart this week 25 years ago, which lead me to remember a number of other good songs from that list, can’t believe 1999 is already that long ago, now I’m feeling really old. This is going to be a spir of the moment show.

Well, it seems that we’re back on our old slot, 10:pm to midnight. However as we go out to air, there is another program simultaneously playing over the top of us. As we tuned into the on air monitors tonight about ten minutes before, we discovered that we’re were already on the air with other audio. Then at Midnight, 2OOO FM went over to the BBC world service.

So as this was a once off, it wasn’t too much of a big deal, the show was rather generic. May pay a visit to the studios next week out of curiosity to find out what is going on. Not that I’m that fussed anymore. We presumed that we were still on after midnight, hence the spir of the moment show.

There has definitely been personnel changes at 2OOO. When I had my initial interview with the station manager back in April, he couldn’t say enough how much he loathed the BBC and hated their journalists, thus at the time 2OOO’s entire schedule had no BBC programming, recorded, syndicated, or otherwise, so quite bizarre now how this has changed. I would have to say that I was a little taken back at the time on how much he carried on about it.

Some random trivia:
Just noticed that the new (Singapore) Class 95 music director has changed the naming format of several songs in the Class 95 music library.

Previously, songs with multiple artists were formatted as “ARTIST 1 - TITLE (FEAT. ARTIST 2)”. Since 4 October 2024, several songs’ metadata have been edited to show “ARTIST 1 [+] ARTIST 2 - TITLE” instead.

For example, B.O.B. - AIRPLANES (FEAT. HAYLEY WILLIAMS) is now renamed to B.O.B. [+] HAYLEY WILLIAMS - AIRPLANES
