Radio Stations - Music Logs

If everything goes right tonight, will be doing a leed lemonade top 20 from this week in October 1995 on Sydney’s 2OO FM 98.5 after Midnight.

Inspired by this following post…

…I thought I’d take a look at how Star 104.5 down on the Central Coast is sounding at the moment for comparison, covering the same time period as the aforementioned New FM log.

Star 104.5 - Central Coast, NSW

9am
“Love Don’t Cost A Thing” Jennifer Lopez

“Gangsta’s Paradise” Coolio
“I Can Do With A Broken Heart” Taylor Swift
“Wherever You Will Go” The Calling
“Girls” The Kid Laroi
“Overpass Graffiti” Ed Sheeran

As you can see above, Star is very pop-based, even moreso than New, with hardly a rock track on there (the only closest one being “Wherever You Will Go”).

I would not call the regional Triple M Rock. They play a bland / overplayed mix of pop and rock.

Given the discussion over in the “Regional Radio Ratings” thread following the release of this year’s Townsville radio ratings in regards to Power 100 (which went up 3.0 from last year’s survey to 3rd place behind Triple M & Hit), I thought I’d take a look at their log, which was taken this morning.

Two Jet songs in two hours is concerning, but that’s not a bad playlist.

Any Jet song is concerning

But overall a good list.

Had a horrible experience last year where I was at the Forum in Melbourne and there was nothing but Jet songs all night.

Suppose that’s what you get for buying tickets to a Jet show…

Summer of ‘69 is the biggest clanger in that list. It’s one of those songs that infects just about every station. Voted #1 most annoying song in my MediaSpy 5 by request some years back, and for good reason.

I don’t like that other Canadian staple from the Barenaked Ladies, either. ‘It’s All Been Done’ isn’t bad, though.

Townsville has awful weather but it at least has a rock station. I’ll stick to the cooler climes of Guyra and aim north with the Yagi for Rebel Tenterfield, though.
