Yeah, thanks, that’s helpful to know. I’ve only logged one of last weeks shows as most of them were just test broadcasts, when we become more established, we’ll be somewhat more organised.
Hopefully you get something up and running. I just had a look on the 2OOO FM website now but alas, your show wasn’t listed. I often download programmes to listen to on USB whilst driving as mobile reception is so poor here in between the towns (forget about listening to The Fresh Mix direct).
Billy, thx for the great show you had on the 9th May, thankfully I’m not the only one that realised that the Badloves where a great group, and a enjoyable missing six from 1974, though more in retrospect as I was only six at the time. :). They must have moved you up, tuned in yesterday at 6:00 in time for the missing six, and they have moved you up an hour, you were finished, literally missed you by minutes. Your new show should be up today on their website.
I’ve just signed up for a mixcloud account now and am preparing some of my recent shows, mp3’ing them and putting them up, just purchased a pro account for one year.
Working on my socials today, so can get them all linked into our new website next week, and we should finally have the ball rolling.
Great logs!
Never knew your show was on 2OOO, always thought they really only had foreign language music programs.
I will have to remember to tune into 98.5 at 10pm one night soon!
I love this track, new song for me. Great 80s vibe.
Apologies- I’m now on 1600-1800 Thursdays. I wanted to be back home a little earlier hence the change. Due to my other commitments I’ve had to move the show several times but hopefully this will be the final move for a while!
‘Lost’ by The Badloves was on the first CD that I owned (Australian Celebration, 1993). They were also on ‘Hey Hey’ quite a bit. They needed the help of Jimmy Barnes to have a decent hit in ‘The Weight’, but imo Michael Spiby’s vocals absolutely cream the working class man. The Badloves never got their dues really as you say.
If you want a ‘no cost’ option for hosting your shows I suggest archive dot org, but Mixcloud is better if you’re willing to pay.
BTW you can catch the last four weeks of my show on Braidwood FM’s ‘Listen Again’ page (under programs). I do all the archiving for the station.
Yesterdays Missing Six was from 1988:
Chantoozies- Wanna Be Up
Lita Ford- Kiss Me Deadly
Machinations- Intimacy
Hunters & Collectors- Back On The Breadline
Aztec Camera- Somewhere In My Heart
Climie Fisher- Love Changes Everything
Yeah, I was really surprised when the manager emailed me out of the blue, about a month after both 2RPH and FBI told us “NO”. I thought 2OOO would have been the last station for taking us on, as our format is “way outside” of their remit. They offered, and we accepted.
We’ve finally got some socials going,
Some of our last shows can be found at:
Mixcloud:
We still need to put up some finishing touches, but we’re eventually getting there.
Facebook:
Heard it on Casey Kasems AT 40 at the time, absolutely fell in love with it, so 80s, it just has that HUGE 80s US vibe.
I’ve just opened a yearly sub with mixcloud and paid for a year, archive.org maybe free, but not sure if that’s going to put us into a grey area with copyright, mixcloud seem to have all their shit together, I remember about a year ago archive were having issues with the copyright gods, not exactly a good vibe there.
Well done on setting that up @anonymousbroadcaster
Yeah Archive dot org is in a bit of a grey area with copyright. I’ve stopped uploading there in favour of the official Braidwood FM site to keep things above board. Realistically though, most stuff on Archive is fairly obscure and unlikely to attract much attention. I know there’s a bunch of old Australian TV on there for example.
Had a listen for about 40 minutes tonight… well put together and sounds very professionally done.
I know 2OOO doesn’t emit Song Info on its RDS, but wondered if the files you distribute to 2OOO contain that info if indeed they were able to transmit that info during normal programming?
@Radiohead, not sure as I don’t possess a DAB+ set, however thanks for the thumbs up.
2OOO were simply putting to air our 192k mp3 stream, however the software they were using was having problems, they were two “Large” dropout periods during Tuesday night’s Winter 1990 special.
Had a good talk to the technician, and with being able to change our stream at one end to a AAC 128 stream, with 2OOO at the other end using different software, I think we’ve got the problem sorted out.
Once we can get a stable connection from my home studio to the 2OOO studios at Burwood, then we may look into the “Info” side of DAB+, however I think that would be more a 2OOO thing.
Them being a community radio station, they would only have limited resources, so not really wanting to get to argy bargy with the technical issues like that. We’re just grateful if we can get a stable connection at the end of the day.
Thanks for the reply, I was listening on FM, didn’t try DAB to see if there was text/song info there too, but I assumed not as my understanding was that a lot of Sydney stations were getting their RDS text from DAB?
I’ll try DAB next time.
No worries, sorry for the confusion, yes, I do remember newer FM receivers are capable of picking up text within the stream. I guess the only way that 2OOO would get that info is if their equipment stripped the info from our ID3 tags of the files we play. Seeing about 75% of the music played on the fresh mix is from customised personal compilations, I’m not sure if that is going to work, as my personal compilations would not be in the musicbrainz, nor gracenote databases.
Here are the logs from my shows this week. They are all now available on our mixcloud server. Program 7 has had it’s intro edited down to comply with mixcloud’s copyright regime. Apparently mixes that contain more then two songs in a row from the same artist cannot be posted. My four track Frank Ifield tribute got me into a little bother, so that’s been edited down.
A last note, 2OOO reception in the Shire was absolute shit both wednesday night and thursday, wednesday night was the worst as I was only getting a very week signal. Thursday night was better after moving my antenna around somewhat. Not sure whether I should mention this to ACMA in the aid of hoping that ACMA will give them permission for pushing their ERP TX power up, or it may wake sleeping dogs and cause the adverse effect, not sure, I’ll sleep on this one for awile.

A small suggestion- would you be able to backannounce a few more tracks in your talk breaks? I’m listening to the shows whilst driving and can’t ‘Shazam’ them immediately.
Thanks in advance. I’m loving your shows and they really bring something different to Sydney radio. Slightly envious of your position on a high powered station*** but you’ve thoroughly earned it
***The tradeoff you make for living out of Sydney!
Ha ha ha.
I’ll see, can’t promise anything. Part of my autism is an element of ADHD. I wouldn’t be diagnosed with any form of it, but what I’ve come to learn that someone’s Asperger’s is usually a collective of mental deficits that effect each person to varying degrees, and being aware of my limits I just have to be careful of not saying to much in a:) I’ll stumble and screw up and b:) the inflection in my voice will start to wonder and I’ll start to woffle on and sound shit boring. Just trying to be mindful of wanting to keep the listener engaged.
This is why I’ll post the playlists where possible. I remember posting them to mixcloud, but obviously to what you’re saying they are not appearing at the other end. So when I can, I’ll just keep posting them here if that is okay by the forum mods. They’re going to be a bit shorter this week as I’ll be running a few disability segments. Want to try to keep the program heavily music oriented, but mindful that I did say to the radio station manager that I want to advance disability issues as well on the show, so just juggling things around to keep the balance right.
This weeks playlists. Shows will appear later on today on mixcloud.

Oh lordy I’d completely forgotten Christopher Atkins had that single.
Great logs!
A question, do you need to give 2OOO a list of songs you want to play for approval beforehand?
No, not at all.
Wen I produce my shows, I first create the playlist in foobar. When I’m happy with what I’ve got, I’ll simply output the foobar playlist as an m3u that then goes into my radio station playout software. These playlists are just a direct rip from my m3u files.
I’ve got pretty good leeway on what can be played, but obviously they are certain songs in our collection that will never be allowed, the 12th Man’s “It’s just not cricket” for example, “Closer” by Nine Inch Nails is another. We’ve purposely moved all those tracks to a (so called) black listed compilation, call the naughtiest songs ever".
Then there is my custom compilation, The 101 Stinkiest Songs Ever, a six CD box set of songs that both my friend and I hate with a passion, these tracks will never ever get played. Some examples include The mois Sisters “Good morning” (1974), Three Degrees “When will I see you again” (1974), Kermit the Frog “The rainbow connection” (1980), these are songs so terrible they make us puke. If you want, I can post the entire list of both these comps. Yes, they are a few Nicklecrap songs in there as well…
@TV-Expert, do you have a playlist from UK’s Capital Xtra taken from yesterday?
Here you go.
