Radio Stations - Music Logs

Given this year’s Mackay ratings that were released today that saw Star fell & Hit rise, I thought I’d compare the two.

Star 101.9 - Mackay, QLD

Hit 100.3 - Mackay, QLD
“Your #1 Hit Music Station”
Tuesday 18th July 2023 - 11am-12pm AEST

“10:35” Tiesto / Tate McRae
“Let’s Talk About Sex” Salt ‘N’ Pepa

“Karma” Taylor Swift
“Young & Beautiful (Remix)” Lana Del Rey / Cedric Gervais
“Life Goes On” Ed Sheeran feat. Luke Combs

The only main difference between the two is that Star plays one track from the 80s. Interestingly, Hit plays two 90s track as opposed to Star’s 1.

And here’s a bonus playlist from that same market…

4MK 1026AM - Mackay, QLD

Tuesday 18th July 2023 - 11am-12pm AEST

“Blame It On The Boogie” The Jacksons

“All I Want Is You” U2
“If You Can’t Give Me Love” Suzi Quatro
“Livin’ La Vida Loca” Ricky Martin
“What’s Up” 4 Non Blondes

It’s worth noting that at Airlie Beach in The Whitsundays, 4MK broadcasts on FM, giving them a level-playing field with the other three Mackay commercial stations that re-transmit there.

I like the 4MK log the best.

Yes it’s a level playing field as long as 91.5 is still in stereo, which they were waaay back in 1985 and in 2001 when I was last there. I think Star is on air there too on 90.7. 4AA wasn’t on 90.7 in 2001 though.

I listened to 4MK this morning for a while, they’re ok,not great, better than the FM stations though. My Apple CarPlay seized up temporarily, couldn’t play my tunes, when I stopped for lunch I rebooted it,that usually fixes it

If this was a log from Thursday last week that’s when I was listening to 4MK and Triple M Mackay on my way home then.
There’s a few songs in the Triple M log that belong in the “ Oh No Not that Song Again “ thread

That Perth log for Triple M is a bit all over the place. First hour some top 40 tracks included, second hour is 100% active , and modern rock.
Still more listenable then what Triple M serves up on the east coast.

I like the Perth log. I would listen to that.

Agreed. For me, the Tradie radio log is better.

Thanks for sharing. Whilst Tradie Radio is tempting, I still much prefer the Perth log.

I don’t mind Tradie Radio, but they play a little bit too much Eminem for my liking. I tend to listen to Triple M 2000s instead.

Come on Eileen also stands out in that log, and not in a good way.

Greetings from TheFreshMix

Although @anonymousbroadcaster is still in charge, the stream is now mainly coming from me, as I am able to leave a comp[uter running in the background 24/7. I’m the one in Wollongong. And I’m the one who has a copy of the 2PR library still (mostly) in its original form, with the songs divided by decades (except pre-1970’s songs!).

Although there has been a few interruptions due to computer issues, it will be stable in a few days when I get the replacement parts I need. Over the next few months I will be organising and working with anonymous to exand the library. Plus, we are working on a schedule of sorts. We will continue our Sunday shows where possible (there are numerous issues arising which may prevent either of us from preparing shows, but these will pass) and, while I can’t promise anything, PM me with your programming suggestions.

@dxnerd I am looking into whether or not we can go back to that 4x4 format, at least once a week. Honestly, though, at the moment, I’m mainly playing random because I’m still learning how it all works! I’m more used to two CD players, a mixer and a microphone. But I have an excellent teacher.

Side note: This station in Cairns, I was one of the first students involved back in 1996

Nice to have you here @ReggieRocket and great that you’re able to host The Fresh Mix 24/7. Of course you can do whatever you wish with the station since it’s your own (voluntary) operation, but thanks for taking suggestions on board.

I Love your username! I reckon Elton John should have called himself that!
