Radio Stations - Music Logs

I’m sure that Nova 96.9 first went to number one in Sydney in survey 1 or 2 of 2002 (10+ overall).

Correct me if I’m wrong here.

I didn’t even realise Nova fm was around in 2002. I still remember when they had the Brisbane launch in 2005.

No, 2Day was #1 in both of those surveys.

Nova 100 in Melbourne did went #1 in Survey 2 (as well as 3) of 2002.

Nova in Sydney launched in 2001. Brisbane was the last to launch in 2005.

Thanks for clarifying. It was Nova 100 that went to number one in 2002.

Nova 106.9 in Brisbane was so successful it went to a 16% share in their second survey. It was dominant for about 4 years, until the music was tweaked in 2009 when they dropped many of the 90s dance / r&b throwbacks to coincide with the launch of NovaNation on DAB.

That Mix 106.5 log was from the days when they were positioning themselves as playing “Sydney’s Best Variety of the 80s, 90s & Now”, and was quite a good listen. Its music was sitting somewhere between 2Day & WS, in which it was not as heavy as the former and not as old as the latter.

In the ratings survey when that log took place (S8/2003), Mix was #3 FM behind 2Day & Nova, and was #2 FM (behind WS) in the 40-54s. The station also outrated 2MMM in the 25-39s.

That’s impressive that Mix106.5 was achieving #3FM in Sydney with that playlist.

As for 2MMM, I think we can all agree the playlist hasn’t really shifted much since 2003 which is a shame.

I wonder when Mix 106.5 revamped their music content because I remember starting to hear some more upbeat/modern songs from about 2008-09.

Thanks for sharing. I think with TripleM the 9am hour would have had a theme as well (ie classic 9@9) The 10am hour was certainly more modern than the playlist today with artists like The Vines that don’t get played now.

Half of these songs they don’t play anymore even with their “High School Hits”. Just goes to show how stale the throwback selections are on Hot AC stations like this, and yes I’m specifically talking about Nova.

Lava doesn’t pick up songs during Luke Bona overnights and Rush Hour.
