Better than listening to a dying 2CH! Although probably best to enjoy that while you still can…
Gordon (station manager) is an IT professional so it’s no surprise that the stream is high quality. It can buffer a bit at times, though. There were 10 listeners online during my programme (I can see them on the monitor). Was going to upload the show but my stream recording conked out half an hour in. I may get it direct off the log later.
Would I call that weird? Not really.
If anything at least 80-90% of it fits into a rhythmic oldies format, one of which I’d imagine would do reasonably in some cities here, however is somewhat common in the US, especially in California.
For Australia, probably the closest comparison is Dance Super Digi (if it’s still alive) on digital in Sydney, otherwise, it’s pretty much an untapped market.
Sure, it’s a bit of a odd choice for Smooth, but as Smooth seems to be leaning toward a soft AC these days, nothing is really weird anymore, unless they start playing heavy rap or punk rock.
To find out, let’s look at an hour for SWR & how it compares to some of the commercial FM stations from within the Sydney metro area from within the same hour this afternoon.
