@anonymousbroadcaster - if you can do your chart show as a high bitrate mp3 file, I could see about getting it aired on Braidwood FM if you’re interested. PM me if so.

Is it always at this time? I will have to record it.

No, these things are sort of done on the spir of the moment at present, but generally on the ball path of a Sunday arvo, as this is the time when both my friend and I have a day off.
Today my friend done a two hour special on 1990, which kind of encouraged me to pull out one of my old chartts for a spin. We kind of feed off each other, I guess it’s just some kind of chemistry. When I do something, he wants to hop aboard and do a thing or two as well, and vice versa.
Thanks for the offer, this is much appreciated, will keep it in mind. At present we’re talking to CBAA to get a weekly slot on COMSAT or COMRAD, I can’t remember what it was called.
The thing is if I have to committ myself at present, I would like to do this with a few other people, on kind of a rotating shift kind of thing.
At present I’m talking to my friend down the coast, and one of the other broadcasters at StarterFM, so in effect I would like to get a three hour by three week pattern going.
In effect this would be me one week, friend 1 the next week, and friend 2, the next, then back to me, and so forth. We’re just talking about it at present, and feeling out the logistics of doing such an arrangement. I don’t know if it will work, or be just too much mucking around.
On the other end, we don’t know if CBAA could even give us three hours. I can do two, so can friend 2, but friend 1 always seems to be stuffed for time in a two hour slot and would like to do three. I can easily do a three hour shift, but am easy with two as well, I’m flexible.
I’ll get back to you on this, see how things pann out.
CRN? That’d be a great way to get your show out there. I’m not sure how many of the 500-odd stations have CRN, but a lot of them do (either via satellite or via FTP; the station I’m involved with broadcasts CRN content sourced via FTP).
Wow, are they that many community radio stations in Australia?, I thought 200, maybe 250 max.
Here’s today’s playlists, friend dropped out, so I’ll be doing two specials today, these will kick off from 15:00 hours this afternoon Australian Eastern.

As you can see, i98 has moved a bit more towards CHR, allowing Wave a bit more breathing space, in which they play a few more older/AC tracks.
Now, does that compare to Canberra? Let’s find out.
For the comparison to be more fair, I’m only focusing on the FM stations.

“Do It To It (Remix)” Acraze / Cherish
As you can see, there’s a bit more musical variety across the two FM stations in Canberra, each targeting a distinct audience with very minimal overlap in the playlists to one another.
Yes, Wollongong has the more similar logs of its 2 FM stations.
Some overspill from Sydney helps to compensate for that.
…And for comparison, here are my two logs from this week.

Out of all the posted logs, Braidwood FM is the best, Mix is passable, the rest complete rubbish.
WaveFM’s log is so bland. This is what happens when you run network logs in a competitive market.
The same happens with Hit101.3 & Triple M Central Coast up against the Star104.5 logs.
Just like programming, music should be programmed locally to remain competitive & relevant to the market.
I should add that The Conga Line specialises in forgotten retro hits, whilst the breakfast show is a mixture of softer adult contemporary and adult alternative tracks. I try and differentiate my programming somewhat from commercial radio, and also the other presenters on the station.
I don’t care if the music is programmed locally or centrally, as long as the music is good and everything else is not terrible, then I’ll listen.
I actually didn’t mind the Hit log for Canberra, it had some good songs in there.
The 3GG/2XL/2GN log is still my favourite.
Had a few listeners request the playlists of todays Sundays special. These were kind of done spir of the moment, hense why I didn’t publish anything.

Channel X is a new radio station brand from Mediawork in NZ, launching yesterday at noon with 15 frequencies across the country (mostly made up of the stations that were formerly used by the ill-fated Today FM). Its playlist is veered primarily towards music from the 90s and 2000s, and is presented commercial-free 24/7, with no DJ breaks. Here’s a sample of its usual playlist from 24 hours after launch.

Honestly not a bad playlist IMO.
That’s not a bad playlist. Good for MW to be bold and do something a bit different.
HOLY **** THAT IS AN AMAZING PLAYLIST.
Calm down- it ain’t the second coming! But yes it’s fairly solid.
I was impressed with Flava, Hauraki and Niu when I was over in Auckland earlier this year , but the majority of the radio sounded average IMO, so it’s good to see a new station playing 90s and 2000s throwbacks.
TBH More FM, The Edge and The Hits sounded boring. Channel X looks miles better going from that playlist. I’ll give it a listen this week.
Triple M 2000s, KIIS 90s, Oldskool 90s and Nova Noughties / Throwbacks are better IMO but it’s a good change for NZ radio, which doesn’t seem to be innovating or playing much good music anymore , with a couple of exceptions.
