Which is interesting in that Triple J Canberra on 101.5 has always had a proper “metro” RDS feed with song and program info, which Wollongong doesn’t get.

105.7 Triple j Sydney has finally restored their RDS RT.
Now sending out RDS Group 0A, 1A, 2A & 4A data.

Yeah, this one has been the case for over 18 months.
Not sure what it would take to encourage BAI Comms (Brisbane) to correct that.

Triple J and Classic will have Track Data in capitals due to the RDS Text been taken from DAB
Will see if can fix it on Monday, the RDS Encoder was been a pain in the arse last time I tried to fix it, maybe it has calmed down since

But as further above, Classic in Canberra is just running static RT text since the RDS update, the same text as Wollongong is running.
Maybe the DAB decoder failed and they didn’t replace it
It was a BAI project and ABC and SBS RDS is best efforts not a priority as it is not a ABC or SBS requirement

I just noticed while looking at fmscan.org that Broome Hit, MMM and Goolarri are listed with RDS. However, they aren’t listed with rds on the Australian RDS List spreadsheet. I wonder where they are getting this data from?

It’s from “floating cars” data, apparently:
Perhaps an automated system with a radio in a car that scans RDS data and uploads to FMList?

Those PI codes for Hit and MMM are seemingly from Port Hedland, too (6917 and 6941).
I’d love to take a trip to Broome from a purely DX perspective, preferably when the TEP is on to Asia. There was a GlobalTuners node up for many years at Broome; Shanghai FM was picked up at the peak of the solar cycle despite a woeful setup (dodgy discone, lots of noise etc). A TEF+whip would cream it.

I think most of the RDS station data in our RDS Spreadsheet is derived from MediaSpy user observations. Perhaps some holes for NW WA that need filling.

No, but it’d be an amazing addition to Google Maps / Street View, a TEF style tuner that captures a FM wideband snapshot with all RDS data embedded!

This is actually already supported by FM-DX-Webserver – where FM bandscans (including RDS data) can be automatically uploaded to FMList from a TEF in a moving car (alongside GPS data). Here’s a guide about it: https://tef.noobish.eu/logos/manuals/TEF_LOGGING_withURDSupload_EnglishVersion.pdf

Same here.
In my opinion, far north Australia (eg Darwin, Broome, Cairns) is the best spot in Australia to dx. You can get so many interesting catches from Asia. I would pay good money for a properly set up TEF Node in one of those places with a Yagi antenna.

I have been to visit the fabled Hot FM relays in Ouyen and Robinvale, they are both the exact same as each other in terms of RDS and frequency - PI and all. Both had stereo.
It’s worth noting however that the Ouyen relay seemed to have a malfunctioning RT, as all it ever showed was “me of the B”, both in the car and on the TEF. Robinvale was working properly though, showing the same RT as the main TX of “Your home for local sport - Hot FM”.
