Australia’s premium streaming service now available on Fetch TV

Presto today announced its arrival on Fetch TV, reinforcing its commitment to big-screen viewing with this exciting new roll-out. The news comes following the announcement of Fetch TV’s newest generation of set top boxes at a media event in Sydney overnight.

From today, Presto will commence streaming on the Gen 3 (Mighty) Fetch TV PVR, and will be introduced on Gen 2 PVRs in early July along with new Fetch TV Mini when it launches next month.

From the integrated Presto app, customers can easily access and enjoy the world’s best TV shows and movies on their TV, including recent arrivals Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo, Empire, The Mindy Project and Scandal; as well as the newest seasons of the critically acclaimed Aquarius starring David Duchovny and Golden Globe® award-winning drama series Mr Robot, express from the U.S.

“The addition of Fetch TV continues Presto’s drive to bring Presto’s premium SVOD entertainment offering to living rooms around the country, providing customers yet another way to enjoy over 8500+ hours of the world’s most bingeworthy TV shows and movies,” said Shaun James, Presto TV CEO. “Through this partnership with Fetch TV, we are making it easy for all Australians to access Presto’s extensive entertainment library on the biggest screen in the house, with a simple click of their Fetch TV remote control.”

Fetch TV provides access to free-to-air TV, a 1TB Personal Video Recorder, a video store in the home with over 5,000 movies to rent or buy, and access to up to 38 subscription channels from major providers. The service is delivered over a broadband connection to the TV via a Fetch TV box.

Today at 3PM AEST, the thrilling, 60s themed drama Aquarius will return for its second season in a special three episode premiere, express from the U.S. and exclusive to Presto.

Episodes 1-3 will stream express from the U.S. in line with their broadcast on America’s NBC Network. New episodes will continue every Friday at 3.00pm AEST.

Presto has today announced that three of Australia’s highest grossing and critically lauded films of 2015 will debut on the service this winter.

Last Cab to Darwin streams from 1 July, followed by Holding the Man from 23 July and The Dressmaker from 25 August.

All three films contributed to setting a new Aussie box office record, with local films achieving their highest share of overall box office since 2001. Last Cab to Darwin generated $7.4 million, with Holding the Man taking $1.2 million and The Dressmaker attaining a massive $20.2 million at the Australian box office last year. In addition to their box office success, each film took out a number of well-deserved AACTA Awards and nominations.

Last Cab to Darwin forms as a dying with dignity drama filled with hope, humour and heart. Set against the stunning Australian outback, this emotionally-charged story follows Rex (Michael Caton), a Broken Hill cab driver who, when told he doesn’t have long to live, sets out on an epic journey to Darwin in a bid to die on his own terms.

Based on the much loved and hugely successful memoir and stage play of the same name, Holding the Man is the warm, funny and extraordinarily moving story of the 15 year-long relationship between Timothy Conigrave and the boy he fell in love with at high school, John Caleo. This affecting coming-of-age tale shows delicacy and depth while tackling the burgeoning HIV/AIDS crisis of the 1980s.

The Dressmaker sees legendary Australian filmmaker Jocelyn Moorhouse return to the director’s chair to deliver the ultimate revenge story. Based on the bestselling novel by Rosalie Hamm, this bittersweet comedy sees a glamorous woman return to her small town in 1950s rural Australia, and features an all-star cast including Kate Winslet, Liam Hemsworth, Hugo Weaving and Judy Davis.

I don’t mean to sound negative but there is not much in the tv section that I think “Wow I am going to get great value for $15 a month”. I suppose most people are on trials like myself ?

Mr Robot (which Presto has the Australian rights to) has its upcoming second season extended from 10 to 12 episodes. Season 2 will premiere with two back-to-back episodes followed by a live after-show in the US on July 13, it’s not known if the after-show will be available to Presto subscribers.

Velocity Frequent Flyer members now earn by streaming on Presto

You are eligible for 50 monthly Points awarded on every $14.99 Presto Entertainment subscription payment.

Someone on another forum worked out that it would take 12 years to get your free flight after being a PAID Presto subscriber.

So it seems this is how they are going to get paid subscribers .

2015’s explosive breakout drama series MR. ROBOT has hacked into the 2016 Primetime Emmy® race, receiving six nominations from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, including a series nomination for Outstanding Drama Series, a nomination for Rami Malek for Lead Actor in a Drama Series and a nomination for Sam Esmail for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series.

In addition to Malek’s Emmy recognition and the Outstanding Drama honor, MR. ROBOT was also nominated for Outstanding Writing, Outstanding Music Composition, Outstanding Casting and Outstanding Sound Mixing.

Following it’s critically-acclaimed first season and two major wins at this year’s Golden Globe® Awards which crowned the series Best Drama and also rewarded Christian Slater as Best Supporting Actor, MR. ROBOT has also received a Peabody Award, four Critics’ Choice® Award nominations and three wins, and two Writers Guild® Award nominations and one win for Best New Series.

MR. ROBOT, currently streaming its second season express from the U.S. on Presto, follows Elliot Alderson (Malek, The Pacific), a cyber-security engineer who becomes involved in the underground hacker group fsociety, after being recruited by their mysterious leader (Slater, Nymphomaniac). The series also stars Portia Doubleday (Her), Carly Chaikin (Suburgatory), Martin Wallström (Simple Simon) and season 2 newcomer Grace Gummer (The Newsroom).

Presto’s exclusive anthology series AMERICAN CRIME also received four Emmy® nominations overnight, including a series nomination for Outstanding Limited Series, a nomination for both Felicity Huffman and Lili Taylor for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie, and a nomination for Regina King for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie.

New episodes of MR. ROBOT Season 2.0 stream express from the U.S. every Thursday at 5pm AEST on Presto

AMERICAN CRIME seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming exclusively on Presto

The only way Presto will have a chance of success is to totally rehaul the interface. It is by far and away has the worst UX of any streaming platform I’ve used. Content wise it isn’t bad but man, so glitchy.

Seven West likely to withdraw from Presto joint venture

Seven West Media is expected to pull out of its digital streaming joint venture with Presto, which is under extreme pressure from US giant Netflix and the Nine Entertainment and Fairfax Media service, Stan.

Free-to-air television, print and digital group Seven and its JV partner Foxtel, owned by Telstra and The Australian’s publisher News Corporation, have agreed on a six-month budget rather than a full financial year agreement, as revealed by this newspaper.

The budget does not exceed a previously agreed funding commitment and sources said Seven was reluctant to invest any more money into the venture.

Seven pulling out of Presto could see the service become the first casualty of Australia’s digital streaming war. It is believed funds committed to the JV would last around three to six months if Presto aggressively invested in content and marketing to try to claw back the gap between itself and Stan and Netflix.

If the business was run conservatively the funds could be drawn out to a year, sources said.

###October

Presto has provided the following information regarding its streaming service for October.

Hair-raising streaming is in store this Halloween as Presto today announced its thrilling line-up for the month of October.

No-one should underestimate Australia’s most psychotic villain, “The Freak” when Bea and her cell-mates return to H Block for Wentworth Season 4 on October 5. The girls find that a new dynamic is in play when Bea’s Top Dog status is challenged and on the outside, Franky is trying hard to be a productive member of society. Settle in for an epidemic of apocalyptic proportions as Season 6 of The Walking Dead streams from October 12. The thirst for fear continues with every episode of HBO’s True Blood streaming from October 1 as well as the darkly comic thriller Hap and Leonard from October 10.

Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door also streams on Presto from October 10. The AACTA-Award winning, two part mini-series explores the rollercoaster story of the iconic Australian entertainer, Peter Allen, who went from being a childhood performer in country NSW to a Grammy and Academy Award-winning songwriter and the toast of Broadway, marrying into Hollywood royalty along the way.

From October 1, binge on silver screen screams; Saw (1-4), Alien (1-3) and The Last Witch Hunter, where it’s up to Vin Diesel to save humanity from the most horrifying witches in history. One, two, Freddy’s coming for you on October 28 with the entire collection of A Nightmare on Elm Street streaming just in time for Halloween.

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg will have you swapping shrieks of terror for shrieks of laughter in the ultimate Dad vs. Step-Dad showdown, Daddy’s Home, streaming from October 2. More must watch films coming in October include Miss You Already, starring Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette on October 2, All Roads Lead to Rome, starring Sarah Jessica Parker on October 7, Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara on October 18, and Risen, starring Joseph Fiennes and Tom Felton on October 25.

Not surprising we’re seeing Presto out of the market soon with increased competition, especially from Stan who offered a superior offering from launch.

A rare defeat for Foxtel given its domination of pay TV market for nearly two decades.

I don’t think absorbing presto into the Foxtel brand is smart. A lot of people don’t like Foxtel and may find it confusing to differ the products.

Presto however is a poor service, I have a two month trial i am using exclusively for 30 Rock. It’s a truly poor service and it’s IOS app is riddled with bugs.
