Good riddance
I donât think youâll find this to be an absorbing. They are two different services and the new Foxtel Play is no different. News sources are reporting that Presto is going to be shut down with focus on the new Foxtel Play product instead.
Foxtel Play is still going to be an IPTV service whereas Presto is a SVOD service. The SVOD part of Foxtel Play is only Foxtel Anytime which will only show programs within the subscribed Foxtel Play Package.
Looks like youâre right, which is a shame. I thought the services were being merged which wouldâve been a good idea imo.
Presto failures: Too late in getting HD, a HBO deal without GoT (probably out of their control) and a FOX deal without Simpsons. Deserved to fail.
Telstra reps still spruiking Presto at a pop up stall in a shopping centre I was walking through at lunch time today. I wish Iâd stopped to pick up some of their promotional material as a memento of the short lived service.
Should have said something to themâŚ
Presto has been removed from the App Store
I AM surprised by this news, because Presto has a far superior library to Netflix which is stuck with providing third-rate no name movies nobody has heard of. Iâm also surprised that Netlfix has far more subscribers than Presto.
Presto had a âfar superior libraryâ due to Foxtelâs agreements with the various movie studios. Meanwhile, Netflix has more subscribers due to the advantage they had of people being subscribers to the US service through VPN/DNS services for years before Presto & indeed Stan launched
Netflix movies arenât the main reason for subscribers, itâs their original and exclusive content.
