They must be doing some serious fiddling with the format to fit into 22 minutes- a reduction in the number of elimination rounds and teams of contestants? It will certainly need to be a lot faster paced than the BBC version.
Isn’t it Pointless putting another gameshow on at the same time an over done gameshow was?
But isn’t that what seven did with Deal or No Deal and Nine did with Family Feud and many other game shows in the past? This isn’t new.
didn’t you say that Ten were potentially ‘moving away’ from game shows at 6pm
The 6:30 segment of the project doesn’t rate anyway. So its not like its going to hurt their ratings that much and The Project was originally in the 7 pm timeslot.
Well that’s what I heard…I’m quite surprised by hearing this too!
Yes ig will. It’s guaranteed that Pointless will rate lower than The Project at 6.30pm. Let’s see if it’s even still on the air after a few months.
The shows first taping is tomorrow at 11:30am, pretty unusual for the host not to have been announced yet. Maybe we may see them pop up on The Project tonight, or announced in the morning?
WIN NSW/ACT is showing promos for Pointless “Coming soon to WIN”. Which raises the question, will it actually be on WIN instead of Eleven?
I doubt it will rate lower than 300k-350k which is what the 6:30 portion of The Project is doing now. Don’t know how they will do this show in 22 minutes instead of the 45 minutes the BBC version goes for.
I just watched the British version, and my god is it boring. So long, dragged out and really pointless. I know thats the premise of the show, but some of the challenges were beyond pointless. In saying this though, it may work as a half/hour format, but I’m not sure. I’ll just wait and see…
I really was hoping they would break the mould and schedule it somewhere different.
Guess it was misguided…
I bet you it will be lower. Maybe there will be some initial interest but it will drop.
I’m guessing they will go for three teams instead of four which allows them to do just one elimination round before going straight to the head to head. 2-3 minutes for the intro, 6-7 minute elimination round, ad break, 6-7 minute head to head, ad break, 5 minute final round and farewell.
There is plenty of empty space for them to cut out, but I’m not convinced the format will work if it tightening up too much.
No joke. Always am suspicious when people say they have heard things etc…
To each their own. I only recently started watching it on ABC and I prefer it to the quiz shows on 7 and 9 as well as Family Feud on 10.
Dr Andrew Rochford and Mark Humphries announced as the presenters of Pointless.
Network Ten is pleased to announce that it has commissioned an Australian version of the highly immersive and subversive quiz show Pointless.
Premiering on TEN and WIN Network soon, Pointless will be co-hosted by Registered Medical Practitioner and author, Dr Andrew Rochford, and comedian and writer, Mark Humphries, and sees three teams of two contestants each compete for a jackpot by finding the most obscure answers they can across a variety of topics.
That’s completely unexpected but good to see they’ve gone with two people who aren’t overexposed and viewers won’t get sick of them too quickly. So Mark Humphries lobbying for that job, won it for him.
Sorry if obvious, but who in which role?
