NO MORE GATEKEEPING: BEC JUDD AND JESS ROBERTS LIFT THE LID ON THEIR COSMETIC AND WELLNESS TREATMENTS IN NEW LiSTNR PODCAST, VAIN-ISH

Bec Judd and Jess Roberts are done with the smoke and mirrors and want you to know what it actually takes to look this good with their new LiSTNR podcast, Vain-ish.

Vain-ish is Bec Judd as you’ve never heard her. After stealing the spotlight in that iconic Brownlow dress in 2004 (sorry, Chris!), she’s become a cultural force through fashion, media, and major brand deals. Now, she’s pulling back the curtain on what really goes into the glam.

Joining Bec is longtime bestie and fellow beauty enthusiast, Jess Roberts – a TV presenter, businesswoman, mother-of-three, interior designer, influencer, and now, podcast host (what, like it’s hard?). Together, they’re pulling back the curtain on the beauty routines, wellness trends, and behind-the-scenes treatments that often get glossed over on Instagram – and they’re not holding anything back.

From placenta pills to salmon sperm facials (yes, really!) Vain-ish is the go-to podcast for anyone caught in a 2am scroll spiral about under-eye filler. Each episode delves into a new corner of beauty culture – featuring celeb guests, including a special tell-all from Nadia Bartel in episode two. With experts and doctors from the beauty world, endless laughs, and zero filler (okay, some filler), Vain-ish is as chaotic as it is honest.

Bec Judd said:”Vain-ish is for anyone who’s spent hours down an online rabbit hole of skin hacks and tweakments. We aren’t getting any younger, and there’s a lot of heavy lifting going into our appearance these days. We’re not going to gaslight our audience into thinking it is just drinking water and exercise (but that helps too!). We’re creating a space to help people make decisions about their own beauty and wellness journeys without shame.”

Jess Roberts said: “Bec and I have both felt pressure to look a certain way, and we know we’re not the only ones. So, no more gatekeeping – we’re getting real and putting our bodies (and faces) on the line to help people feel more comfortable to be themselves… because we didn’t wake up like this!”

Head of Content – LiSTNR Original Podcasts, Sam Cavanagh, said: “Vain-ish is refreshingly self-aware and wildly entertaining. It’s the perfect blend of expert insight and the kind of honesty typically reserved for a group chat with your closest friends. Bec and Jess are an irresistible duo and bring a fresh, unfiltered voice to beauty and pop culture.”

Don’t miss out on this iconic deep dive into the beauty world with this limited series by LiSTNR. Listen to the first episode of Vain-ish with Bec Judd and Jess Roberts for free on the LiSTNR app, available from today, Sunday, 6 July.

Secrets, Spies and Sabotage: 40 years on, SBS podcast investigates historic bombing of Greenpeace’s Rainbow Warrior

Marking the 40th anniversary of the bombing of Greenpeace’s international flagship, the Rainbow Warrior, award-winning investigative journalist Richard Baker has re-examined Australia’s part in one of the most far-reaching international scandals of the 1980s, in SBS Audio’s latest podcast Fallout: Spies on Norfolk Island.

Uncovering a sealed 374-page Australian government file, Baker travels to the scene of a real-life international spy thriller. After bombing the Rainbow Warrior in Auckland Harbour and killing photographer Fernando Pereira, four French agents escaped to Norfolk Island where they were eventually detained. However, after 24 hours in custody they were allowed to leave, ultimately evading justice.

The Rainbow Warrior had arrived in Auckland after evacuating 300 people from Rongelap Atoll in the Marshall Islands, where they had been subject to fallout from US nuclear-testing, and was next destined for Mururoa Atoll to protest French nuclear testing there.

Baker investigates the role that Australia played in the global headline-making affair, interviewing locals who witnessed the events on Norfolk Island, talking to Pacific Islanders who were exposed to radiation from the US and French nuclear-testing programs, and investigating from the Pacific to Paris to uncover the real story.

Host of Fallout: Spies on Norfolk Island, Richard Baker said; “The more I looked into it, the more I was drawn to the events that unfolded on Norfolk Island forty years ago. I placed my bets on a 374-page sealed document from the National Archives of Australia and travelled to the region to speak to the locals – and from that, the podcast series Fallout: Spies on Norfolk Island was born.

“It turned out I wasn’t the only one who thought something didn’t add up. In this series, I uncover Australia’s covert role in an international scandal, the geopolitical situation that was driving the government of the day, and the part Australia still plays today in the ongoing battle for influence over the region.”

The six-part podcast series features interviews with Maurice Witham, detective inspector who was second in command of the Rainbow Warrior investigation; Chris Martin, New Zealand detective who went to Norfolk Island to interrogate the French agents; Hinamoeura Morgant-Cross, French Polynesian anti-nuclear activist and politician; and Lopeti Sentuli, Tongan anti-nuclear campaigner and lawyer on the ongoing fight for a nuclear-free Pacific.

Fallout: Spies on Norfolk Island is the latest offering from SBS, recently named the Australian Podcaster of the Year for the third year in a row*.* It launches today on SBS Audio, ahead of the 40th anniversary of the Rainbow Warrior bombing. Listen to all of SBS Audio’s podcasts on the SBS Audio App, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, LiSTNR or wherever you stream podcasts. Episodes launching weekly.

Explore Love Without Limits in a bold, funny and unapologetic SBS Audio podcast about love, intimacy and disability

Disability advocates and comedians Madeline Stewart and Alistair Baldwin are here to challenge tired narratives that define love, sex and disability as mutually exclusive. They pull back the curtain on the real-life experiences of dating and intimacy for disabled people in a new hilarious and heartful SBS Audio podcast – Love Without Limits.

This Disability Pride month no topic is off limits in this six-part podcast series featuring candid conversations with guests who share personal tales of love, sex, dating and relationships – from burgeoning romances and long-term partnerships to flings, friendships, self-love and everything in between. In light of this year’s Disability Pride theme ‘No Shame. No Apologies’, discussions spare no detail as the six-episode podcast examines the barriers to intimacy that people with disability can face. The series explores questions like ‘how does a person who has lost both their hands and feet adapt their sex life?’ and ‘why do we never see people with dwarfism having sex on our screens?’.

Hosts Madeline Stewart and Alistair Baldwin said: “We’re excited to be bringing Love Without Limits to life and to hold a space for conversations about the real-life reflections and experiences of dating and intimacy as a disabled person.”

“The series tackles the stereotypes of sex and disability that exist both on screen and off. The conversations we have are cheeky and heartfelt, and while they might sometimes be seen as risky, risqué or controversial, they’re necessary – because it’s important to hear from those who’ve been unfairly boxed-in by the same tired narratives.”

Creator and producer of the series Eliza Hull said: “Disabled people are so often desexualised, infantilised, or viewed through a medical lens that ignores our identities as sexual beings. I wanted to create a space where disabled people could share their own stories, in their own words, to challenge these stereotypes.”

Joining the series are: Carly Findlay OAM, renowned writer, speaker and appearance activist; Australia’s first actor with a cochlear implant, Nathan Borg, who played Curtis Perkins in Neighbours; Lisa Prowd, dancer, performance artist and life model, who has an incredible range of work exploring the normality and uniqueness of her own body; and Hannah Diviney, Australian actress, activist and author, who was part of the first Australian sex scene featuring a disabled actor (in Latecomers on SBS in 2022).

Love Without Limits is an unapologetically funny, modern, and fearlesspodcast series that platforms the voices of disabled people and their experiences to challenge stereotypes and how we talk about love, sex and disability. Listen to all of SBS Audio’s podcasts on the SBS Audio App, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, LiSTNR or wherever you stream podcasts. Episodes launching weekly.

ABC Mushroom Case Daily continues to grow in June

Mushroom Case Daily was the third most listened to podcast in June with 670,000 listeners, according to the June Triton Australian Podcast Ranker released today.

ABC Head of Audio on Demand Jessica Radburn said: “It demonstrates again that when there are high public interest stories, Australian audiences turn to the ABC to understand them.

“Sensing the strong audience interest, months before the trial started the team developed a clear strategy for how the show could produce daily episodes during the court proceedings.

“It was important to cover this story in a way that balanced the undeniable public interest with respect to the tragic human impacts at the centre of the trial.”

The ABC had four out of the top 10 podcasts in the June Triton Australian Podcast Ranker with ABC News Top Stories taking No 1 spot, up two places from the May list. Mushroom Case Daily was No 3 with an additional 46,000 listeners from last month, ABC News Daily No 6 and Conversations No 9.

The ABC had 3.1 million listeners across its podcast slate in June and had 44 titles in the expanded top 300 podcast ranker.

Mushroom Case Daily follows the case of Erin Patterson, who this month was found guilty of three counts of murder and one of attempted murder for deliberately poisoning her lunch guests’ food with death cap mushrooms.

Throughout the trial court reporter Kristian Silva, producer Stephen Stockwell and journalist Rachael Brown kept audiences up to date with highlights from court, breaking down the legal process along the way.

“The biggest surprise for the team was how engaged the audience was in learning more about the minutiae of daily court processes and jury logistics, as well as following Stocky, Kristian and Rachael’s daily lives as they were reporting on the case,” Radburn said.

“We’ve had more than 8000 emails to the Mushroom Case Daily inbox from engaged audience members in Australia and around the world, which the team incorporated into the show to ensure the audience’s questions were responded to daily.

“There’s still more to come for the program, with the team continuing to dissect the verdict and respond to audience questions. They will also cover the sentencing.”

Since it began producing daily episodes, Mushroom Case Daily has become the ABC’s most successful podcast in a decade. It is the No 1 podcast on Apple Australia’s podcast chart, No 2 on Spotify’s Trending chart and has broken into the Spotify Top 20 –a first for an ABC podcast.

Mushroom Case Daily has also been featured on The Washington Post, The Project and Mamamia. Audiences can enjoy every episode of Mushroom Case Daily for free and ad free on ABC listen.

SiriusXM leaves Australian Podcast Ranker

SiriusXM’s huge stable of podcasts, including The Mel Robbins Show, Call Her Daddy, and Smartless, are no longer included in the Podcast Ranker, with the US audio giant choosing to opt out of the ranking system.

The Mel Robbins show topped the Australian Podcast Ranker in the first five months of 2025, its inclusion in the Australian chart due to SiriusXM’s podcasts being represented by Listnr in the Australian market, through a deal with Adswizz. The podcast was conspicuously absent from the June rankings, however, along with all other SiriumXM shows.

Shows in the SiriusXM stable include Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy; Smartless, starring Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes; Rotten Mango; Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend; Freakonomics Radio; The Megyn Kelly Show; and 99% Invisible.

Between them, the above list of shows was responsible for over 3.6 million downloads in Australia during the month of May.
