How many people can sit through an hour and a half podcast ? With All About Android being canned last week after 13 years at twit (I really liked the hosts and their passion for Android) I don’t think I can sit through more than 30 minutes at a time for a typical 1 hour and a half podcast .

The biggest offender of this is Windows Weekly which has digressed into something of a shit cow dung lately and I do appreciate Paul Thurrott and his knowledge and opinions on Microsoft as a whole. But since Mary Jo Foley left at the end of last year it hasn’t been the same rather it’s turned in a mixture of bull shit from Leo and the new guy who is obsessed with alcohol.

My question with long podcast is how many of us can sit through a long hour and a half podcast? Obviously things are changing and viewing or listening habits are becoming incomplacent, but thought I’d get some peoples take on here.

According to The Australian’s Nick Tabakoff, former prime minister Tony Abbott and his top staffer Peta Credlin are teaming up for a new fortnightly podcast simply called Abbott and Credlin. It will launch Wednesday week, July 19. Abbott told the paper that the timing of the new Sky podcast is a direct riposte to what he sees as overblown claims of a long-term decline in right-wing politics in Australia, following the defeat of the federal Liberal government last May.

working in IT i felt i needed to listen to these to keep up to date. I was listening to TWIT, Security Now, Windows Weekly, All About Android and Macbreak Weekly. it just got way too much and i dumped them all - even commuting an hour each way to work i struggled to get though them all and they were not needed for work anyway

I still listen to Windows Weekly and Mac Break weekly but yeah the gigantic hours im they have for a full show is a bit extreme . I don’t mind ads in the middle of the show so I try and break it into segments during the day. But i do prefer tech podcasts to be right to the point.

Interesting fair take you have too pretty similar to mine.

LiSTNR ANNOUNCES SEASON TWO OF BABYLAB HOSTED BY EMMA WATKINS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH WESTERN SYDNEY UNIVERSITY DELVING INTO THE WORLD OF HOW BABIES THINK

LiSTNR’s successful BabyLab podcast, hosted by Emma Watkins, today launches its second season in a new partnership with the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development at Western Sydney University and its infant research centre, MARCS BabyLab.

The branded podcast series will see children’s entertainer Watkins break down the questions that parents may have about how babies learn to communicate. Questions to be explored in BabyLab season two include: where does the first word come from? Are screens good for learning? Does music improve communication skills?

Watkins will speak to both parents and experts, including Dr Genevieve Quek and Professor Jorge Serrador, to learn about the fascinating world of communication and babies.

Professor Sue Hespos, Leader of the MARCS BabyLab at Western Sydney University, said the BabyLab podcast is an exciting new initiative that translates world class university research on child development into fun, bite-sized parenting ‘hacks’ for modern mums and dads wanting to help unlock their growing baby’s learning and language development.

“As one of the leading infant communication and child development research centres in Australia, we are proud to share our latest research and findings with parents and caregivers of young children,” she said.

“Here at the MARCS BabyLab, we specialise in scientific, evidence-based studies that answer the very same questions that everyday parents are asking about raising their children. We have been conducting world-class research since 1999, discovering all the incredible things going on inside a growing baby’s brain and solving modern day parenting challenges, including the positive and negative aspects of screen time and understanding the many benefits of raising a bilingual child.”

BabyLab host Emma Watkins said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the second season of the BabyLab podcast. The work that has been done in the child development space is so important. Through this podcast I hope to make this research accessible to parents as we embark on a journey to answer the essential questions that inevitably arise from the beautiful, complex, fun and challenging world of raising babies.”

LiSTNR Senior Executive Producer – Branded Podcasts, Todd Stevens, said: “This podcast covers the topics that are important to real parents - from the ongoing debate around screentime, to knowing when your baby should be hitting certain milestones - and why it might not matter if they don’t! It is down to earth conversations with experts and parents all backed up by research from the team at MARCS BabyLab and we are excited to partner with Western Sydney University for this new season.

“Emma brings so much curiosity and passion to the BabyLab podcast. She has a genuine interest in finding out how babies learn and a knack for simplifying what can be a very complex world.”

Season two of BabyLab launches today and each of the nine episodes drop weekly every Wednesday. Listen to the trailer here.

I see Abbott is still living in La-La-land.

Listnr must have changed the way they inserts ads into their podcasts - I’m now getting ads for Port Macquarie/ Kempsey rather then generic or national ads

LiSTNR ANNOUNCES LIMITED SERIES PODCAST WITH TIKTOK SENSATIONS LUKE AND SASSY SCOTT

LiSTNR has launched a limited series podcast with TikTok sensations Luke and Sassy Scott. The new podcast features six special episodes created by Luke and Scott O’Halloran; the Melbourne brothers who have taken social media by storm, attracting over 3.4 million followers on TikTok and over 100 million likes of their hilarious videos. They have also won the hearts of many international stars including Rita Ora, The Osbournes and Selena Gomez.

Luke and his sassy brother Scott became TikTok famous for their hysterical sibling squabbles. Now, on their podcast, they are sharing all the details behind their outrageous videos along with some extremely personal stories, even revealing things that they haven’t told their mum! In the weekly episodes, the brothers take part in a series of pranks, constantly throwing each other under the bus and having a lot of laughs along the way.

Just back in Australia from a US trip, which included lunching with Kelly Osbourne and marching in the NYC Pride parade, the podcast launched with a classic Luke prank that had Scott fuming when he thought his photo had been omitted from their LiSTNR billboard.

On the first episode the boys hear wild sibling-related stories from their followers, pull a prank on Married at First Sight alumni and host of the Sit With Us podcast Domenica Calarco, and argue over things that infuriate Scott.

Luke said: “We’re more surprised than anyone that LiSTNR offered us a podcast. We couldn’t believe it when they called! We thought it was only our mum who was interested in giving us opportunities in life.”

Scott said: “For six episodes we are bringing our followers what they want; more of us. But just like a limited designer handbag, our podcast is a rare jewel. Of course, if our followers want more episodes then they may be able to talk us into it, but only if they beg!”

LiSTNR Original Podcasts Head of Entertainment and Culture, Sam Cavanagh, said: “To be honest I was unsure about whether Luke and Scott’s content would translate to podcasting. However, five minutes into the first demo that we recorded with them, and I was hooked! They are absolutely hilarious, natural storytellers, and have a chemistry built from a lifetime spent pushing each other’s buttons.”

Listen now to the first episode of Luke and Sassy Scott on LiSTNR here. New episodes drop weekly every Wednesday.

There’s a lot of crap available out there these days, isnt there?!

As confronting as this story is, listeners have tuned in to hear more about coercive control – from the relationship, to the crime, through to the coronial inquest examining the events that lead up to the shocking and heartbreaking story of the murder of Hannah Clarke and her three young children.

Nine Radio’s catch up podcast continues to prove that on-demand is in-demand with over 820,000 listeners in June 2023, a 35% increase on the same period last year, as listeners tune into their favourite radio show where and when they choose. 2GB’s Ben Fordham Live podcast, jumped up 18 placed to #18 on June 2023’s Podcast ranker, with over 200,000 monthly listeners tuning in for their daily dose of agenda setting news and opinion. 3AW’s Drive with Tom Elliott podcast continues to steadily grow its audience, with over 75,000 listeners, up 68% YoY.

As the home of the NRLW, Nine’s commitment to growing the 2023 season includes a brand new weekly podcast, NRLW Weekly, hosted dual international, Ruan Sims and one of the leading voices on women’s sport, Marlee Silva. NRLW Weekly brings fans the latest updates, insights, and exclusive interviews from the electrifying world of the National Rugby League Women’s competition

Sarah-Jane Calleja and Rachel Carr quickly became fan favourites on The Block last year, with their quick wit, trademark humour and raw authenticity. They bring that same electric dynamic to their brand new podcast I Just Can’t as they discuss the rollercoaster of life – marriage, motherhood, melodramatic TV, nothing is off limits. Raw yet ruthless, vulnerable and sometimes a little vulgar, nothing is too ‘taboo’ for these two as they’ll have you switching between heartfelt tears to laughter-induced bellyaches in the blink of an eye.

With a career spanning four decades, WAtoday journalist, morning presenter on 6PR’s and four-time Western Australian Journalist of the Year, Gary Adshead has stood on the frontlines of journalism, tackling a vast array of Western Australia’s most notorious stories, from murder investigations and national espionage to heroic rescues and missing person cases.
