A similar thing happened to me for $16 at a cafe. I handed over $20 but they had no $1/$2 coins for change and he wanted to give me 50c/20c coins. I said how about I give you another $1 coin and you give me $5. He looked at me like I was really suspicious. I had to explain, I’m giving you $21 and you give me $5 back which is $16.
I do it because I refuse to pay the 1.5% surcharge on cafe purchases. I go every day and it adds up. Although it’s suss that when the owner takes the cash, he doesn’t ring it up on the till. 
Weren’t we going to have surcharges removed on credit card purchases in 2026? The government is missing out on a lot of taxes through the black economy.

I use cash for most smaller item purchases (one item purchases). Like coffees, the random magazine purchase, milk etc.
Same happens to me as to the above posters. But happening more lately. Buying a $5.50 coffee for example. Give the cashier $10.50. Some give me a $5 note. But most look puzzled at the complexity. Sigh… Annoys me more than it should…
I use cash for these smaller items, as the card surcharges do add up at the longer term. And it sucks

More like it’s not being used. It is in the curriculum, but since every f-wit who hasn’t stepped in a classroom likes to tell us what to do, it gets side-tracked by useless shit.

As for the cash/card debate, I don’t really care either way, i always have a $20 and change in my wallet, just for the little purchases that should not require a card. As long as both are available for those who like either or one or the other.
I am sure i have had worse, most young people these days that I have seen in Chadstone, don’t even understand how to do simple maths in their head. (That to me is more concerning then the other shit in schools).
I blame partly the schools for this, but mainly so the technology sector though. It is their stupid mandatated laptop policy allowed this to happen. I mean using technology is great for certain things, but in a way it’s sort of cognitvely dumbed down certain australian kids even further. Like now everything has to be done online. I mean , maths for me, was hard, but by golly at least when i was forced to write the workings out on a piece of paper or in my exercise journal, ast least i could see how i got the answer.
Now a lot of young people don’t undersetand how to do division without the need for calculators. That to me is fucking sad.

I learnt maths in retail as a teenager not really from school in the 80s it goes in one ear and out the other, it’s not until the rubber hits the road that you realise that to save yourself from embarrassment you have to be on your game. As customers we are all teachers to the younger generation so be gentle, it shouldn’t really be this way, but it is.

Pie face, what is going on guys ! Local bakery pies are cheaper and 1000× better ,all food sold should be safe to eat, but there microwave magic doesn’t cut it.
One of my pet peeves this year is the absolute annoyance of others.
For a starter - what is it with everyone deciding to stand in the middle if where I’m going which makes me take a detour & by the time I finish the detour.. they move. I swear it’s on purpose. It’s High School not a damn Tea Party in your back garden.
Also - I swear these Year 7s are… weird. Like they are moody and yet they are still checking that damn timetable. One of sniffed a brick wall a few weeks ago. It’s true.
Also - few weeks ago, returning laptops. Walk in to the classroom. Teacher I had for the last 3 years, has a Year 7 class.. which had humor drier than Denham Hitchcocks presenting. Like saying ‘Oh I’ve Got My Phone Out’.. when it’s a crappy calculator. Then just last week - They are mad because they ‘didn’t get in trouble’. I’ve known this teachers style for the last 3 years. He only starts going for you, if you never shut up. First it’s being moved. Then it’s outside then go to headteacher. And You know FULL-WELL my blood was boiling hearing them whinge about it
Anyways, back to your scheduled programme ‘No Idea because this isn’t a Television channel’

Bandwagon Fans purely irritate me. I’ve been supporting the Roosters since Day 1.
Then you see these Tiktokers who call their page ‘I am not a bandwagon’ and ONLY go for the team that is no.1 on the ladder. One week it was Storm, then Broncos. Now Warriors. And when their chosen team for the week looses they call it ‘rigged’. Just like that Warriors v Tigers game. The Tigers just had a better side that game.
I’ve only ever supported the one team since about 1980. Even though I live in Newcastle Knights territory, I didn’t switch allegiances when the Knights were admitted in 1988. I know a lot of people who did switch though.

Best way to shut them up - I remember staying up late to watch Plugger kick the winning behind to get us into the 96 GF, on Prime no less. I was 11 at the time. I’ve followed them ever since then. I got my 10 years members badge too, but haven’t gone to the GFs.
Bandwagon jumpers are the Giants, and I bet half of them are only in it for the cheap Kayo.

I blame QR and the government for how they’ve handled this round of union negotiations. Poor form, especially after the teacher’s union debacle. This is the first time they haven’t been able to push back well.
Come to an agreement before magic round becomes tragic round because a 3-car train at Suncorp won’t cut it
