If you include the roughly 700 stations that currently rely on CBS News Radio bulletins—which are set to be discontinued—then partially yes. However, CBS doesn’t presently maintain direct ownership interests in terrestrial radio, as previous management divested those assets years ago. The closest equivalents today would be its digital audio offerings, such as DAB simulcasts of services like CBS News 24/7 or CBS Sports HQ.

I’m sure they’re keen to take on a spiralling media company to go along with their struggling one.

Odd considering they only just sold Simon and Schuster. Is this a Ellison brainwave?

The original CBS Radio was sold in 2017 to Entercom (now Audacy) under Redstone’s leadership, but the closure of CBS News Radio is purely a cost-cutting decision by Ellison.

DAB simulcasts? The US doesn’t have DAB, they use HD Radio.

I think Aurora was talking about the publishing company they sold in late 2023.
