Paramount Australia & New Zealand

But 10 has no news and sport. And that’s what is keeping Broadcast Alive.

And what local network is dominant in streaming?

If the Merger goes ahead, 10 will fall under the Warner Bros-Discovery umbrella with WBDANZ holding the rights for Max. Eurosport could launch in Australia as a FAST channel on 10 Play with Max airing A-League and Socceroos matches.

dominate position eg. on TV’s and devices. Ahead of any streamers not attached to a FTA network. If 10 Play was folded into say WB+ then it would appear next to 9NOW at the top of apps.

WBD has had Three NZ for a couple of years now but it feels like it’s in a holding pattern. Will be interesting

I’d imagine a deal of this size will potentially require some forced asset sales, could make it easier to bundle in some stuff that a combined group aren’t interested in as well

An opportunity for 10 to rebuild its news division. CNN on FTA and streaming via Max is possible with 10 gaining access to CNN and CBS two US news behemoths.

This would surely have major consequences in Australia. The Discovery deal expires with Nine soon. So that would take all the content from Nine and Foxtel and everything go to 10

oh god I absolutely hate WBD management for what they have already done to the WarnerMedia assets

theyre not gonna treat 10 any better

A big gain for 10 but it will be a blow for Foxtel with Foxtel owning HBO titles potentially going to 10

There won’t be a 10 after all this.

The beginning of the end

People have speculated this way with previous acquisitions and mergers It’s never cut and dried.

10 doesn’t automatically gain everything. It still comes down to business and whatever makes them the most money. They will not just put CNN on free to air if they are still making money from it being on Binge, Fetch etc.

Agree, most they would possibly do would be having it as a live channel on whatever Paramount+ would become.
Even a FAST channel on 10play would prob dilute the amount Foxtel / Fetch would want to pay for it

cnn on fta tv

yeah no thanks

i dont want american propaganda shoved down my throat

I can’t see this happening but if you view a channel being available on FTA as being shoved down your throat, you have a terrible gag reflex.

Another 24/7 news channel on FTA is unlikely

and if anything, out of all 3 commercial FTA networks, if any of them were to launch a news channel it’ll most likely be Seven

Not much would change in Australia, Foxtel would fight tooth and nail to keep HBO content.

Let’s not forget Paramount signed a deal with Stan after the CBS and Viacom merger was announced.

My (grim) prediction, 10 to be offloaded in the event of a Paramount/WBD merger to News Corp/Foxtel and turned into a ‘window shop’ for Foxtel content (similar to how Prime Sky Open operates in New Zealand).

You just said it was possible.

Which one is it?
