If 100 people sign up to all 3 services, ViacomCBS can spin it as 300 users :man_shrugging:t2:

Agree. No different to Foxtel having Foxtel Go and also Binge. A lot of duplicate content across those and a lot of people don’t realise Foxtel own Binge.

And the revenue stream for Pluto is different with bulk ad deals and revenue shared across however many channels. The Google TV interface one might have on your smart TV or with a Chromecast is now highlighting Pluto TV as an option for “live” linear watching in the U.S. and Amazon Fire TV also does so as well. For Pluto, it’s all about reach.

For 10Play with Network 10 content and Paramount+ for studio content, it’s about the small % you can get as paying fans.

To those saying ViacomCBS has screwed over Channel 5 in the UK and will do the same to 10:

That article seems to be based solely on total people figures? Don’t Five also target demos rather than TP?

You don’t hear much talk of demos in the UK

Yeah, a much different, and daresay older-skewing market than Australia or the US, and probably due to the BBC influence that doesn’t seem to be an issue. But television is very much still king here compared to Australia and the US. Still getting massive audiences, probably because it’s pitch black for half the year.

The upper level of 10’s Sydney HQ is still mostly empty according to Lachlan Kennedy’s Twitter.

Correct…

Only essential staff are allowed in the building.
Promos (I think), Media Services, Presentation and Master Control.

Network 10 are moving out of their Hurt Street offices in Adelaide into a building on Greenhill Road.

Seems like they’ve just moved in there but I suppose it was 10-15 years now?

15 apparently.

15 years. Back before the News Revolution.

that time has flown, mind you, 15 years is probably not very long in the overall scheme of things

Would love a rundown of what that article goes over - can’t view it.

The article talks of “studio space” where all local programming can be broadcast from.

Here’s a quote

It will include television broadcasting areas, an open-plan newsroom, studio space and open-plan offices, while an outdoor terrace area with views over the parklands will be used for live news crosses.

What local programming? You’d think they’d take the chance to move their local news back to Adelaide given this expensive fit out.

They’re also having an open plan newsroom and an exclusive outdoor terrace.

The article says 10’s new Adelaide office/studio will be located in the same building as Bridgestone Australia head office (210 Greenhill Road, Eastwood). The network’s 60 or so local staff will relocate to the new building in April once final fit-out construction work is completed.

It is similar in arrangement to 10’s Melbourne and Perth studios which are located in an office building.

“We assigned a local firm, Bell Architecture, to design a new modern station that has everything we currently have at Hutt St and more.”

Hrmmm. Doesn’t sound too bad but probably means they need less space overall. Being out of the city, perhaps the rent is cheaper and hopefully it means a reinvestment in new technology which may be a good thing…

Given the dire ratings of their Adelaide news maybe they can use their savings to resurrect a local broadcast. Either that or they’re just talking nonsense for coverage in the local paper.
