I’m sure the ABC was there in the first year but not since. Personally I don’t see an issue with them sending a few commentators over, it is a significant event and sport in Australia.
Yet they allow this:
Go figure.
Andrew Moore, John Gibbs and Luke Lewis calling Knights v Cowboys off the tube for ABC Radio. It’s Andrew’s first NRL match since his heart attack last year.
Gibbs and Lewis will stay around for Bulldogs v Dragons, with Brett Sprigg calling play by play.
2GB/4BC commentary team for today
I find it interesting that Anthoy Maroon does a lot of games for MMM is it because Dan Ginnane does more Fox games?
There’s a few mis-prints in there by the looks of things.
Dan Ginnane will do the Sunday afternoon game.
Okay quick question since i have been away.
The Knights game in Las Vegas. Did Triple M Newcastle do their own call or did just take the main call. Cause i couldn’t really imagine them sending Jim Callinan snd Michael Hagan over there since they already had a call team over there. Unless they they called it from the studio.
Jim Callinan was there for FSN but I believe they took the national feed.
They took the main national call.
Townsville called from the studio.
Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned - but Cooper Johns and Andrew Webster has joined 2GB.
Emma Lawrence will call her first game this weekend. Sharks vs Dolphins on Saturday night at 5:30.
Seems like they’ll be using her when they get the extra games featuring a QLD team.
I listened to Emma Lawrence call on the way home from a resounding victory from the Warriors yesterday.
She sounded pretty good but I reckon she’ll be very suited to TV when she gets her chance.
I notice that the newish DAB ABC Radio Australia basically has all the Rugby League matches on. So I guess in non-NRL states you hear all matches on DAB now? I assume ABC Sports is always AFL.
Not sure if I’m alone hear but I find Ben “Dobbo” Dobbin to be one of the most underrated pbp callers in rugby league. Looking through comments on various pages he doesn’t seem to be overly popular with listeners on the rush hour, maybe due to his brash take on things (most of which is unserious or playing a role on a show).
Triple M aren’t taking every game like they have done in the past for magic round although they do take 6 plus the women’s origin.
Info on SCA coverage of Rugby League World Cup
Why not Adelaide and Hobart?
Because they probably don’t give a shit about rugby league and they don’t want to piss off the listeners?
