Andrew mentioned on Thursday that Matthew Elliott is busy with other commitments this year and will appear occasionally. Likewise one of last yearâs other regulars Andrew Ryan is coaching South Newcastle and will be involved in commentary of matches played in Newcastle.
ABCâs coverage of NRL this Saturday (March 23) will be affected by NSW state election. ABC Local Radio will leave the broadcast of Newcastle v Penrith at 6pm for the election special hosted by Wendy Harmer and Richard Glover. The Knights-Panthers game and Manly v Roosters (kickoff 7.30pm) wonât be heard on analogue radio in NSW at all, as NewsRadio is broadcasting the AFL match between Western Bulldogs and Sydney. The only way to hear the two night matches in the state is via digital radio, the ABC website or ABC Listen app.

I like abc coverage but I do miss Matt Elliott. I like the new players coming in but it would be great to have some extra old heads in the team. John Gibbs should be on more often with Andrew.

I prefer Triple Mâs personally but if I canât ABC is a very good alternative. Really we are pretty lucky as they are all good options in terms of coverage.

Triple M Sydney has an audio issue with their NRL coverage that has been going for more than 10 minutes now, which sounds like a voice track running underneath (just sounds like two people talking at once continually). Itâs unlistenable.
Interestingly this isnât evident on Triple M Newcastle, which is also taking the NRL tonight.
Fix it up Triple M, not good enough really.
