NRL coverage

How is this allowed on narrowcast frequencies? SEN Track has an all sports bfast show and any other matches are on HPONs for track racing.

Sports Entertainment Network will provide three calls for tonight’s State of Origin opener in Adelaide.
Joel Caine, Scott Sattler, Brett Kimmorley: SEN in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Mount Gambier, Bunbury and SCA stations in regional WA
Jimmy Smith and Steve Roach (Blues Radio): 2SM Sydney, regional NSW, Gold Coast and SENTrack Perth
Mark Braybrook and Gary Belcher (Maroons Radio): SENTrack stations across Queensland, plus affiliated stations in regional Queensland

Triple M coverage for State of Origin game 1 tonight will also be heard in Adelaide, as well as Melbourne, regional Victoria and Hobart.

The few times 2SM is actually useful! :stuck_out_tongue: That’s 5 stations that has State of Origin - ABC, 2GB, SEN, 2SM and Triple M. A bit overkill but there you go…

The call team for Blues Radio remain the same. All three calls will be available on the SEN app during the Origin series.

Triple M coverage for State of Origin game 2

The ABC has a similar problem. Ben Cameron revealed on ABC Sport program this afternoon that the broadcaster is applying for exemptions for Andrew Moore, Matthew Elliott and Luke Lewis so they can be in Brisbane to call game 3. The issue is that if the trio can’t get into Queensland, who can provide expert commentary alongside Quentin Hull?

Who usually calls NRL alongside Quentin Hull? Billy Moore can probably do it.

Zane Bojack is at Suncorp Stadium for ABC’s coverage of Origin decider tonight.

ABC still has Moore, Elliott and Lewis commentating the clash, I assume they will do it from Sydney studio.

You could hear at the end of broadcast Andrew was emotional his mate and colleague Matt Elliott was leaving the ABC. They certainly had great chemistry. It sounded like Andrew had still felt the affects with his old 2gb job (even after joining the ABC) and the problems faced in that job which at times were toxic. This is what Andrew stated in an interview on the 730 report a few years back.

Matt appeared to helped him get over his issues over the 6 years or at least cope with it better. Matt appears to be a great bloke listening to him on the radio. I hope Matt Elliott will be back on radio after his coaching role ends. It was a lovely tribute by Andrew to Matt at the end of the show.

I didn’t realise Matthew Elliott is leaving the ABC. He is joining St George Illawarra to be an assistant coach to Anthony Griffin.

With Erin Molan joining 2DayFM in 2021 to co-host breakfast with Ed Kavalee and Dave Hughes, does it mean she will no longer be part of 2GB’s NRL coverage on weekends?

If Seven’s moves with Basil Zempilas are anything to go by, I don’t think Erin will be back on 2GB. Either by choice or by directive of employer.

Presumably Molan still has a full-time job at Nine and is joining 2Day FM with Nine’s consent. That she is no longer on 2GB may be of no concern to anyone except probably Ray Hadley, who we know has a jealous streak.

Probably right. And why should Ray care? He’s at the tail end of his career. She may be back with 2GB in a year or so, depending on how the new gig goes, knowing 2Day’s efforts in the ratings…

Also, his “mate” Buzz has a love fest going in his columns over the past few weeks with Raaaaaaaaaaaay and his weight loss. Good for him, he’s doing better than me admittedly, but don’t keep going back over and over on it. Sheesh!

Hopefully you are right.

Phil Rothfield now writes that Erin Molan was actually dumped from the 2GB Continuous Call Team because of financial pressure around COVID last year. When her three-year contract was nearing completion towards the end of last season, network executives told Molan’s adviser, celebrity accountant Anthony Bell, in writing there was no money for a new deal.

Erin was the third departure from 2GB Continuous Call Team after Ray Hadley and Bob Fulton.

Notice Triple M is promoting the new LiSTNR app rather than its own NRL app.

In Melbourne, Storm v Rabbitohs can be heard on digital radio (SEN) but again a missed opportunity for Triple M not broadcasting the game locally.

I interesting how how for some matches they have separate team for SEN 1170. I listen to the ABC because they tend to go to the grounds.
