Nova Network

Yes. Ironic.

This is the true meaning of Nova

a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness and then slowly returning to its original state over a few months.

Let’s put this in context has a sudden increase in ratings, and then drops back down to its original position or worse.

Hearing that networked workday shifts for Sydney and Melbourne have been dumped

Just the networked shifts or are they also dumping the Greatest Hit Workday concept which is a dud?

Not sure about the music format, but I suspect it’s staying. 9am-4pm shifts are definitely changing.

Glad to see they’ve finally realised networking doesn’t work across such a big country.

It’ll be interesting to see the next ratings survey. If Nova suffers another drop, they need to get rid of the Greatest Hits. They should be doing Fresh Music, Choice Cuts and More Variety.

They should change positioning to something like ‘breaking hits first’ and stay on top of new releases and tracks that people are actually listening to on streaming as radio here is so adverse to playing that stuff that people are actually consuming.

It’s ridiculous how slow they are at putting new releases on their playlist. When they finally add some tracks to their playlist, they are at the top of teh charts and then they play them way too often that the station always sounds repetitive. Months later, they don’t know when to replace them with something new.

The worst offenders right now are Body by Loud Luxury, Nothing Breaks Like A Heart and Waiting by Kiian. They should be on the way out now. Not played every three hours.

Some new tracks only get played once a day. It’s all back to front.

Matt Tilley is back on radio. He will be heard on Nova 100 on weekday mornings from the end of April.

That’s interesting. Nova used to sack their hosts when they were over 40 but now they’ve hired someone who is 50. Are they planning on skewing the radio station to an older audience?

So I presume not paying for News Limited, he’s on from 9am?

Correct, he will be on from 9am right after Chrissie, Sam and Browny.

Smallzy is doing 9am - 12pm Monday to Friday in Sydney.

The new line up is revealed here: https://mediaweek.com.au/nova-shakes-up-daytime-radio-as-matt-tilley-joins-in-melbourne/

This is great news.
Glad they are dropping the networking.

That’s a big workload for Smallzy though. Is he still going to be all the trips he does to London and Los Angeles? You’d think not.

Ironic how both Matt Tilley and Troy Ellis have ended up at Nova.

More reactionary stuff from Pommie Paul who’s terrified of the rise of 2Day’s workday.

Nova used to innovate. Now it imitates. Sad.

It needs a major cleanout from the top to the bottom. Fresh thinking regarding its music policy and back to its strength of fresh music and playing stuff first.

Nova is evening copying 2Day having its night host pull two shifts.

Will Smallzy’s Surgery be pre-recorded?

Will be interesting to hear Matt Tilley as a music jock. Wonder if they’ve considered get Jo Stanley and Adam Richard in to do the 12-1pm hour with Matt & Troy…

Not really, it’s just an hour of voice tracking localised breaks and recording some callers.
