Yes. Correctly, ‘Easter Friday’ is next week (The Friday in Easter Week according to the ecclesiastical calendar)
cool graffiti scribble fellow kids. its radio AF
Which is funny considering their playlist is mostly throwbacks from the nineties and noughties which 2WS play now.
i don’t see how this converts to listeners tuning in. It tells me nothing about Nova’s on-air offering.
I like how they’ve designed the campaign to fit a Nova brand from… 22 years ago.
This would have to be their worst advertising campaign ever.
They’ve had some of the best outdoor campaigns promoting their on-air talent over the years. Don’t fix what isn’t broken:
This Nova stuff is way worse.
I didn’t mind that H! logo on the van. That giant exclamation on the banners didn’t look good though.
I like the new campaign. It ties the brand back to the original “sounds different” branding which posts on here constantly say Nova needs to go back. The billboards you shared would have to be some of the most sterile ads they’ve had, targeted will above their target audience.
The thing with Nova at the moment though is that they are currently at one of their most successful points as a whole network, but they’re not great with consistency across their brand. They have edgy younger skewing shows mixed in with safer middle-aged mom content. Is the on air sound going to change to match this campaign? The network is full of great elements, but they don’t necessarily all work well together.
not gonna lie, it looks fresh, but AT THE SAME TIME, also has that “how do you do, fellow kids” energy
This sums it up perfectly.
As mentioned in a recent Melbourne Radio Wars podcast, a station such as 2Day needs to show its “attitude” if they’re going down the whole, “AF” road. Similarly, with Nova.
This “attitude” shown in their latest campaign tells me that if I tune into their station, I’ll hear edgy content, rebellious announcers and likely the latest, hottest, freshest hits.
It is clearly targeting at the Today AF campaign.
The difference here, and the weakness here for Nova, is once a person tunes into the station, they don’t get what they see in these ads.
Does spray paint on ads really reflect Chrissie Swan? Or breakfast shows that feature announcers much older than this target demo?
Apart from Ben, Liam & Belle, Nova’s current new campaign completely does NOT reflect Nova’s current on-air strategy.
It’s as if the person who made the ads, doesn’t even listen to Nova. Probably Spotify.
Most of Nova is pushing 50, but also spray paint GFX? It’s just so dated and try hard to appeal to younger people with that rubbish. Not to mention it isn’t clear right away what the ads are for, it’s confusing mess.
Screams “try hard” to me.
Nova 919 recently unveiled their new look studio, 5AA also got new studios.
Based on what I can see on social media I think the FIVEaa studios might still be a work in progress. It looks like FIVEaa are using the Nova studios at the moment, which isn’t hard given the small amount of local output on Nova 919. The social media from early last week still shows the old FIVEaa studios (albeit with the new microphones which they’ve been using for a few weeks). I would guess that the redid the Nova studios first (Nova 919 has been broadcasting a boardroom the whole year until now) and will now start work on the FIVEaa studios.
