Nova Network

If they could make the effort and have the full podcast on the Nova app, that would be good but maybe they will also be afraid of the legal threats from record companies there too.

Why can’t they make a deal or an agreement

Interesting that Nova didn’t use Mitch Churi. I wonder if he’ll get a temporary show during survey break.

I think he’s signed on to Nine/Stan to do content.

I noticed in the latest RTJ podcast they had segments which had music under them during the show but had the music removed in the podcast. The conversation sounded a bit stilted though because they’re obviously pausing when they originally had thd music there.

In the podcast intro, they talked amout being flooded by listener complaints. They said they eere going to make the podcasts longer and were going to be trying a few different things on the show after the break. Back on Monday 28 April.

This change has also affected the Fitzy and Wippa podcast but less so, since they use a lot less music in segments and as part of gags. Although, Yom Ivey said in one of the podcast intros this week that you won’t be hearing a particular segment because they are “not allowed to play it” in the podcast.

Isn’t there some way the shows can simply grab a recording of the voices on the show and not the music from the show? If they come through different channels, I thought this could easily be done.

I just said they did that with the latest podcast. The problem is that they start talking as the music is still playing but pause or sing along with the song. Take out the music and it sounds stilted. Cut out the pauses and it still sounds weird.

Maybe they’re going to have to change the style of the show completely and be aware that they have to separate themselves from the music. It’s disappointing because they constantly talk about the music and artists now which is great.

I think it’s because Spotify can now detect if you’re using licenced music in your podcast, and can block the whole account (not just the one ep) if they detect it. Maybe that’s why Nova have made this change.

This is the perfect chance to push their Nova Podcasts product hard. “Get the full episodes with no cuts exclusively on the Nova app” etc. Just put the shit ones out on Spotify, who uses that garbage for podcasts anyway?

Extra content maybe

Or just put those <10 minute clips on Spotify that they already put in the feed, and have a real feed for every other platform.

Mitch is presenting breakfast on Nova nationally this Good Friday.

What a mish-mash that is. Susie O’Neil one day, Mitch the next. Talk about inconsistency.

What’s inconsistent exactly?

They have a fill in show with Matty, Mel and Susie Monday- Thursday this week. Friday is a public holiday so they aren’t on. Mitch is filling in.

Not sure I understand your concern?

Susie and Mel are part of the Nova Family. Hence why Mitch is a freelancer

Age gaps between announcers. Mitch is a youthful announcer who loves celebs and new music (similar to Hit’s Nic Kelly), whereas Susie O’Neil and Chrissie Swan are at completely different points in their lives. The fact listeners will hear mums chatting about kids & school holidays one day, then Mitch interviewing the hottest celebs the next day, I find it to not flow so well.

Back when Nova96.9 launched, notice all the lineup were similar ages? Showing that the station was clearly after a certain sound and demographic.

It doesn’t really matter for the public holidays when they’re are different people tuning in anyway. I think it’s good to hear a few different voices to mix it up.

Mitch will also be heard on Sunday night.

Nova fail referring to today as, “Easter Friday” on their socials for Mitch’s breakfast fill-in show.

Last I checked, it’s Good Friday and Easter Monday.
