Nova 106.9âs Luttsy Spills Radio Secrets & Sings His Heart Out To Raise Awareness for the Womenâs Legal Service Qld!
Nova 106.9 Brisbaneâs breakfast host, David âLuttsyâ Lutteral, switched up the studio for some carpool karaoke this week to promote the Epic Walk for DV which raises money for the Womenâs Legal Service Qld.
Channel Tenâs Brendan Smith, who came up with the âQueensland Karaoke for a Causeâ initiative, convinces media personalities to use their voice to promote the Epic Walk for DV fund-raising program by singing their hearts out while cruising around the city.
Brendan questioned Luttsy on his origins in the radio industry and career highlights of his 20 years with the Nova network, before the pair belted out Daryl Brathwaiteâs âHorsesâ to the amusement of morning shoppers.
Luttsy and Brendan had a quick stousch over where they went to school in Brisbane, before dropping into their second performance of INXS.
Luttsy commended Brendan on his work and thanked him for the opportunity to use his voice to help raise awareness of the walk.
The Epic Walk for DV takes place in Queensland this Sunday 30 March 2025.

Looking on Lava it appears Nova 106.9 is running its own log today. It is 100% Throwbacks and playing more alternative tracks again, by artists such as the Chemical Brothers, NERD and the Foo Fighters.
Is Nova Ent giving Nova 106.9 back itâs own more alternative log to differentiate between the other two Hot AC / CHR stations B105 and KIIS?
Nice, but itâs a shame theyâre relying on older tracks.
They should revert to their âsounds differentâ era. Across the network.
I believe its part of their 20 year birthday celebration
This would be perfect for Sydney if the new 2day 1041 gains traction.
Yes, itâs only for today to celebrate Nova Brisbaneâs 20th anniversary.
Itâs a throw back to 2005.
Wouldnât be surprised if the likes of Mr Brightside by The Killers, We Belong Together by Mariah Carey and Donât Cha by the Pussycat Dolls was on their playlist.
Takes me back.
When music had a personality
100%! What a time!
To show how much Nova has ceded (for the want of a better word) the new music battle to 2Day, Melbourne Radio Wars has statistics that show Nova and 2Day only share 25% music. Nova stays in the known lane while 2Day breaks new.
Found that very interesting.
Who remembers when Nova96.9 launched - and 2DayFM then changed their imaging to be less âAmericanâ, as well as introducing more variety to their CHR format (which was mainly pop prior to Novaâs arrival).
I think the changes at 2day have got Novaâs attention. I have noticed that Nova has now added These Dayâs Crystal remix to their playlist which is on high rotation on the new 2day fm playlist.
If 2day fm goes up in the ratings and smashes Nova in the younger demographicâs they will have to respond, but this will mean a seperate log for Sydney for dayparts. Nova doesnât like seperate logs for their stations.
Interesting to hear Tim Blackwell say yesterday that they have had some copyright issues with music in podcasts. He said something like the producers had to frantically go back and edit their podcasts.
If this is something that has been brought up by record companies it is going to make it very difficult for the presenters now. They are going to have to be careful not to talk over the start or end of songs because they wonât be able to include a sentence or a whole segment in the podcast.
If this is a money grabbing exercise from record companies then they are being very stupid. Itâs usually just a few seconds of a track but this just means less people would hear your music.
