Maybe they gave him the day off to test Mitch out

I doubt it. I guess there may have been a private reason. Things like a sick family member or death in the family can’t really be mentioned.

He doesn’t miss many shows as mentioned, but also when he does occasionally have to be off, we’ve seen Jase Hawkins (since coming over to Nova) fill in for Tim a few times.

Nice to see Ava Max’s brand new song “Lost Your Faith” get its first radio airplay in Australia (to my knowledge) on Smallzy’s Surgery this evening. It was released on February 14.

Jase and Lauren celebrated their one year on air at Nova 100 this morning.

(The show continued to broadcast live this week due to its late start in the radio ratings survey period)

Update: they and Clint Stanaway were presented with a framed cartoon poster drawn by Herald Sun’s Mark Knight.

Don’t think I’ve ever heard them on Nova, but it would be nice if they do.

I’ve always loved listening to the Backstreet Boys ever since their Backstreet’s Back days.

Anyway, Nova need to focus on the present and expose newer artists as much as they possibly can.

Nova96.9 must be feeling so old & dated given the shift at 2DAY1041 over the past 24hrs.

A shame that we likely won’t see Nova96.9 react to the change in any way. Just continuing to be a UK copycat, rather than a revolutionary Australian radio station like it once was.

If I were at NOVA ENT, I’d immediately revert Nova969 back to its former self. With never more than 2 ads in a row, and the same triple j-like music format we all grew to love in the early 00’s when it launched.

They have a better chance watching how the market reacts to 2Day FM. The jury is still out, especially being day 2 of a new format.

It’s not like Nova’s ratings are bad. 2Day FM has more to gain and Nova has more to lose by making any swift changes.

The next thing you know, they’ll start playing a random Phil Collins or U2 song from the 80s or 90s, that’s how bad things have gone at Nova.

I remember as recently as late-2021 they were regularly playing newer music more often than older music, as has been mentioned many times this is the format they should go back to.

They do play a lot of new stuff and some of it is not from the ARIA chart. I think they’ve realised that the way the chart is compiled is rubbish now and look at other music too. I’d say they are playing a lot more newer stuff right now than they were playing the last couple of years.

I do think they need make throwbacks just from the last ten years and not put them on high rotation.

I heard them play Cake by the Ocean as a throwback and thought: “Cool song. Haven’t heard that in a while.” But now I’ve heard about four times in the last month so that’s not great.

One example being “What It Is” by Doechii, which didn’t even crack the top 50, another being “Nice to Meet You” by Myles Smith which I must admit is a good song to hear and is a nice change from the many American artists (such as Shaboozey, Benson Boone and Teddy Swims to name a few; nothing against them though) that dominate Nova’s playlist.

Such a hot act right now.

Yeah. There are a lot more on the playlist right now like local artists Cyril and Dean Lewis which are not charting high but have a huge following.

There are a lot more new songs that are perfect but may not chart like Beautiful People (David Guetta and Sia released 7 March. Better than playing the same three old Sia or David Guetta songs 30 times per week.
