So who was on 9 to 12 and 1 to 3 today?

Mel as usual. It only went for 30 minutes. Mel was back at 12:30

Seems weird that they have so many two hour shows now but Mel does five hours 9-2.

It just goes to show that Nova is no longer home to music… instead, personalities.

This has been the trend for a long time. Music radio for the most part won’t compete against personalised streaming platforms in the long term. Radio’s value-add is engaging and compelling talk content.

Mel’s isn’t really a show though. There’s a lot more preparation and content required for a show with regular talk breaks, interviews etc compared to a straight music shift.

It’s still a very long shift.

Does Mel do the workday shift for all markets (except Perth) through to Chrissie Swan show?

I have heard her fill in for Ross sometimes with Perth oriented breaks, adding local callers to the cash or car list etc.

How fitting that Sky News has the same colours as Nova. The family must love red.

Sorry for the late reply. I’ve got the audio of both the Nova 969 and Nova 100 launches saved - download for my own archives from The Radio Vault, but I’ll share them here since TRV is no longer online.

I’d also be interested in getting a copy of the other Nova launches if anyone has them.

If anyone has the Nova937 launch that would be awesome too. Thanks for archiving these!

Radio legend Mitch Churi filling in for Tim Blackwell on RTJ this arvo

Legend? He’s barely 30.

I listened to the show for two short stints this afternoon but from what I heard, Mitch seemed to slot in well with Rikki-Lee and Joel. I think they were excited to have someone new to talk to today, so they talked over each other a few times but overall it was great.

Sounds like it was a smart move to sign up Mitch to Nova.

Any reason for Tim being away? He always prides himself on the fact that he is never sick and hardly ever away from the show. He often mentions that jn all his years at Nova, he has only missed a handful of shows.

I have Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane launches on CD. I’ll try to rip and post them.
