Matt de Groot gave a very emotional farewell speech on the Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie show on Friday. Great that he thanked Sarah McGilvray and acknowledged their work together over the years and how she never had the chance to farewell listeners like he was doing now.
Also good that when they did their farewells for 2023, Fitzy also thanked Sarah McGilvray for all her contributions to the show in the past years and early part of this year. Better late than never, i suppose. You could tell he is still upset about her being removed from the show.
Can Nova chill on the pointless reworks of their news/traffic stingsā¦
The original and second variants were great but after being passed across multiple audio agencies for what is now the fourth iteration itās starting to sound like parody of itself.
Meanwhile the Hit network and other broadcasters have retained theirs and they still sound great.
I donāt mind the new one, but It does sound like just a pitched up version of the previous one. Maybe they wanted a brighter sound without changing the key elements too much.
Theyāve obviously started the year with Fitzy in Adelaide. You can notice the difference now heās not in the studio because the conversations can be a bit stilted sometimes. It will be interesting to see if they can smooth this out.
Joel Creasey has been doing the show from Melbourne since he joined Drive, while Ricki-Lee and Tim are in Sydney but you donāt seem to notice any disconnect there.
NovaNation tonight is sounding fantastic. This is really great house music with some soul. The Supafly mix is brilliant! Reminds me of the old Nova from 2001-2009
Yeah I like NovaNation - but why does it start so early on Saturdays, and so late on Fridays? It should realistically be something more like 9pm-2am both days, rather than 10pm-midnight on Friday, and 6pm to Midnight on Saturday.
