Yeah cause Matt is leaving and moving overseas.

Yahoo Lifestyle understands Fitzy will be relocating to Adelaide with his wife Belinda Jay and their two sons within the next six months, and he’ll be permanently broadcasting remotely from South Australia – despite spending the last 12 years doing the show by Wippa’s side each morning.

A radio insider tells us: “Fitzy moving back to Adelaide and doing the show from there is a huge risk. The chemistry is never the same when hosts are not in the same studio, so Nova will have to work hard to maintain the same energy so the long distance doesn’t convey on air.

"If it doesn’t work, the talent’s contracts may not be renewed – it’s as simple as that and the future of the show is uncertain. Not having MDG [newsreader, Matt de Groot] there is another huge blow for listeners too.”

Well it’s not a “huge blow for listeners”. He’ll still be there. Hyper garbage.

It won’t be the same. As the article says, remote talent always sounds somewhat distant from the rest of the team. They lose that energy and eventually end up being less present.

Fitzy and family have clearly decided they want to move back to Adelaide. Where is there contract at? I’ll predict now it won’t get renewed, and maybe after so long Fitzy doesn’t want it to be either. This could very well be the compromise between breaking contract to move home and sticking it out for one last year.

They should just end it this year if that’s the case.

I have some inside knowledge on this. Fitzy let management know years ago that he wanted to move back to South Australia. He has been building a house there for the last couple of years with the intention of living in it. Some people thought that he might walk away from his radio career when he moved down there. If anything, it’s Nova management who want him to keep doing the show remotely. The “radio insider” is certainly not someone at Nova.

It’s up to listeners to decide whether this works. Having him no longer share so many Sydney stories from his life may have an impact on the show. If Fitzy is talking about life in his suburban Adelaide, will Sydney listeners be interested?

Spot on.

I dare say they’ll neither lose nor gain listeners. F&W have a loyal following, a good amount of P2s and will always sit around that 6.5% mark. Their cume’s always been pretty impressive - 2nd highest in Sydney after K&J.

They’re a dream for Sales: fun, they’ve got that H&A vibe, not offensive or edgy, good at embracing and integrating clients) so they’ll be around for as long as they want to. I don’t ever see them rolling J&A, but it’s unlikely 2Day or Triple M Brekkie will ever leapfrog them.

I’m on the agency sales side of things and I remember seeing market research where the common theme was: parents with kids in the car listen to F&W then switch over to K&J once the kids are out and they’re driving into work.

Did/has Fitzy ever changed his FitzySA Twitter/X handle since living in NSW?

Nope it’s always been FitzySA.

Would have been a good time to move Ben and Liam up there. And make a proper Melbourne breakfast show with KIIS leaving the market

So a wider playlist than regular Nova !

Hopefully, though I severely doubt it, this means playing less Taylor on the main channels.

Nova’s obsession with her is just over the top IMO.

Not just NOVA it seems all the Top 40 stations can’t get enough of her

Just wait till she arrives in the country - everyone will be talking about her.

It is also no surprise that she is once again the most streamed artist in Australia.
