Won’t compete against them but I reckon he’ll have a role of some sort over at SCA next year
Allot of unhappy listeners on social media with Joel coming onboard, just take a look at the KTM Facebook page when it was announced. Time will tell I guess.
Nova networking dayside in Melbourne and Adelaide and Brisbane and Sydney again. History repeats itself, with listening up, what a perfect time to network shifts. How about the execs trim their pay packets and keep the talent on air, ya know the reason people listen.
This mob are hopeless, last time they did this, their shares crashed.
Nova isn’t publicly listed?
Audience shares for those shifts
Don’t mind me.
Feel particularly for Jarrod, second time he’s been made redundant from 919 if I’m right?
I thought you were just being a smartass
Me? Never
Yep, second time, first time was about 12 months ago and he shifted across to FiveAA drive but this year he’d been doing some shifts on Nova 91.9.
Radio Today has picked up on the story as an Exclusive.
SCA and ARN are going to eat Nova 106.9 for breakfast in the next survey.
Nova 106.9 has simply become a relay of Nova 96.9. The once remaining cool station with the best playlist in the network is no more.
They may as well network Fitzy & Wippa into breakfast and shut the whole place down completely.
RIP Nova 106.9
Hopefully it’s only temporary until advertising revenues (hopefully) bounces back after the pandemic subsides.
On that note do you think the economics for companies like Nova will get so bad that they will end up being 100% networked 24 hours a day into all markets like Triple J, with a generic breakfast show?
I understand local content rules still apply, but the broadcasters would probably like to see the end of these to further save a buck.
If I’m not mistaken, local content rules only apply in regional markets.
Don’t think metro markets have quite the same rules, hence 4BC essentially becoming “2GB North” (at least on weekdays) for a short time before Nine took over and reintroduced local breakfast & drive shifts to the station.
One wonders how much of a pay packet signing Joel is worth then, to have dropped four daytime Jocks?
Better hope that experiment is worth it, otherwise two of your best rating stations in the network will be going back down the gurgler.
I’m sure the savings from part of Marty Sheargold’s salary would cover Joel Creasey’s salary.
He’d be much cheaper too I’d imagine. Someone 10 years in would be getting a decent package.
He’s posted a video detailing the axing and doing a proper farewell here now.
I don’t listen to Nova but sorry to hear that Nova Brisbane had to sack their 2 daytime announcers😕
Let’s not forget it’s Martys last day today. I feel this has been overshadowed by 10’s annual bloodbath.
