Nine (WIN)

Roy also said Northern NSW will remain on WIN, meaning it is unlikely to be affected.:eyeglasses:

Nicely done Jens.

And I agree 2 is most likely.

There’s also an option of replacing the project entirely with 1 hour WIN news. Half “local”, half national perhaps with the pre-shot project snips and footage sourced from 10.

I don’t think they’d want to give up The Project though.

im sure channel 10 will keep metro as normal but alted for regional Viewers similar to win and nine at the moment

Really like the idea of WIN doing thier own breakfast show - it’s risky and probably wouldn’t work but if it did it would pay off and it’s something Ten might pick up in the future too. It would also be a great way of distracting from the change in affiliation.

A truly co-produced breakfast time news might work, one that shares both resources and staffing. No big Sunrise ordeal but a simplified news bulletin with a bit of personality.

I guess if TVOne and TV3 NZ can both do morning shows for 4 million people, WIN can economically do one for 6 million people strong text

Afternoon options added:

I like Family Feud at 4:30 and Bold at 4 - or possibly an hour of Feud, with Bold pushed to 3:30. (I’d leave 11 and ONE as they are.) Edit: I’ve edited this now with all-6pm-News options, as it seems WIN is going this way.

On The Project: I think you’d be mad to drop it - or half of it - a) it kills it in the demos; b) it’s a cross-promo dream (with the guests they have on), and; c) it flows so well into the next shows.

As for mornings - do a simple, fun, commercial morning news (to rival ABC) - not unlike what they do in Perth with Tracey Vo or Matt.

I wonder if WIN produced programming will start appearing nationally on Ten/One from 1 July?

Both Alive And Cooking and Fishing Australia are suitable for One and/or Ten’s Saturday Afternoon. Both previously aired on GEM and GO! at certain times. Possibly the same with selected Crawfords shows to fill daytime/off primetime slots on One and Eleven. I doubt SCA would be bothered pre-empting any of these with other programming for Northern NSW.

Obviously All Australian News isn’t suitable for national broadcast, even with the misleading title.

Ten May Consider Producing Short Five Minute News Bulletins each Morning in Conjunction with Win News for their City and State Stories.

WIN may cut The Project in half to fit local news bulletins into prime-time. “Bumping Family Feud to another slot or channel is one possibility. “If Ten would allow it, running the local news at 6.30pm may make sense as Ten always resets The Project at 7pm.”

Same story says, Southern Cross has said it will replace its existing “rip and read” news briefs with full local bulletins. The regional version of National Nine News is likely to be broadcast from its TV facilities in Canberra.
Media analyst Steve Allen said the program would most likely run for an hour and mix content from Nine’s capital city bulletins with segments of local news beamed into each local market.

Interesting quote here. It will still be Win News; viewers will turn on Win at 6pm and will see something they’re used to,” Wagga’s Win Television station manager Nathon Irvin said.

just as SC10 did in Shepparton with Weeknights a few years ago when the Project was at 6pm.

it wont effect 10 metro with FF etc only regional like win and nine are now

It would be ridiculous to cut the project in half when the 6pm timeslot has the same show across three bloody channels.

Hmm, this part of the news article is interesting.

So, an NBN style bulletin broadcast into all SC9 markets from Canberra with local windows.
This sounds fine to me, but if the “national” part of the bulletin does indeed feature content from Nine’s capital city bulletins, that could mean that viewers will be seeing irrelevant stories from other states Nine metro bulletins.

How many studios does SCA have in its facilities in Canberra.
Are there enough facilities to do separate “national” segments live for each state?

Probably prerecord a few bulletins. No different to WIN where Geoff Phillips is on all over Southern NSW at the same time.

I think they’d need to have a discussion with Ten over the longevity of having it across three channels. If Ten are really keen on continuing it, then the worse case scenario would be simply replacing it with something else.

Bold at 4, Family Feud 4:30, Ten News, WIN News and The Project. I don’t think you can get better than that.

Well a quote from WIN is pretty definitive. WIN news at 6pm.

I still think they should move WIN news to 6pm now rather than wait till July 1. Consistent timing where possible (for WIN daytime shows, or Ten afternoon shows) helps continuity.

By the way, that’s new Family Feud that I’m talking about at 4:30. And it would crush Seven and Southern Cross (surely?) :hear_no_evil:
