Nine (WIN)

Aurora hasn’t been much of a community channel for a while. Last time I saw it it was mostly shopping with a few reruns of the Channel 10 Mass and a Ron E. Sparx music show mixed in, though it might have gotten better now. Most of the programmers that used to be there have gone to the internet, 31/44, or 7Mate weekend daytimes

Who owns Aurora? Maybe they don’t wanna deal with Bruce?

T he placeholder is still on channel 84:

Just put the Crawfords Channel there. Non-stop Sullivans and Bluey.

They are just waiting for someone to not notice it for a year so that it can disappear. Now the countdown has to start again.

Came up on the night Mildura Digital Television closed down.

I’m assuming that 9rush will be on channel 84 on 9 WIN?

They aren’t going to do anything with it at all. They want everyone to stop noticing Channel 84 so then they can switch it off.

Nine’s O&Os in Darwin and Northern NSW don’t have 9Rush at all, it is basically a channel reserved for people in the 5 main capital city pillars of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. The major regional centres, Geelong (VIC) and the Gold Coast (QLD) also get 9Rush as they receive the metro relays (only the GC also gets regional channels derived from Northern NSW).

I am curious, why would they have started up a new channel/display on LCN 84 in Mildura? MDV was on a different LCN and different channel (MDV10) to WIN (STV7)?

Wasn’t LCN 84 just where TVSN was? If so, the contract probably just lapsed on the 1st of July and WIN decided not to renew it. It was probably just a coincidence that MDT closed on the same day.

was TVSN carried by WIN?

Yeah they got it during the 10 affiliation but it came over to the 9 affiliation as well. Just not sure when it ended.

TVSN has moved from WIN and Ten to Seven and it has been vacant since. I would say the channel still broadcasts as it makes it easier to bring something else in with very basic work if they find a group willing to take it on.

Why would they care if people noticed a blank channel being switched off? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Canberra just got 1 minute of Tipping Point in between the end of Cup coverage at 5.30 before WIN News started around 5.31pm. Probably par for the course with WIN these days!

Why didn’t Nine remove Tipping Point today?

Because the Melbourne cup coverage finished early and WIN was taking the network feed.

3 posts were merged into an existing topic: WIN News

If WIN launches a new channel on LCN 84, here are my predictions:

  1. GOLD 2 (Revival)
  2. WIN NETWORK (Revival)
  3. WIN NEWS (In Every Region)
  4. Expo (Sister with TVSN)
  5. 9 4K Ultra HD (Only suitable for 4K TVs)
