Nine (WIN)

Win has 2 datacasting channels - originally WIN Gold and WIN Gold 2 - Extra took over from Win Gold 2 recently but they still have WIN Gold

I’ve only seen Win Gold (have these channels skipped) and it was ads for Crawfords .

Good to see them using MPEG4 for both channels, hopefully that means better quality pictures/broadcast.

Currently I’m using Play TV through my PS3 and WIN is the only channel it has issues with, often going blocky or losing audio. I usually have to change to another channel and back to it a few times before it fixes itself.

Can’t wait for 9Life, I think I’ll enjoy a lot of its programming. :slightly_smiling:

Great news, 2 channels in mpeg 4 . I guess GEM will be shown in SD soon.

This is great news. Never thought I’d see a FTA network broadcasting 7 channels. Let’s hope quality isn’t too compromised.

I’d be happy for WIN SD to be as low a bitrate as Gold is currently, to encourage viewers to use the HD simulcast.

Given a “Ten HD” just appeared on Ten’s multiplex, I wouldn’t rule it out entirely, the investment in what’s needed to make WIN HD a reality is now justifiable with either affiliation outcome.

that was a short honeymoon… WIN now taking Nine to court over streaming…

Bruce can’t help him self… Cantankerous

gotta say I feel for regionals, the networks are getting programming fees from them then undercutting them by not restricting access to those in their broadcast regions.

Someone should make a tele movie about WIN and 9 so many drama’s. Bruce knew this would happen when he signed the 6 month deal so not sure what this will achieve.

I think there already is one. :smiling_imp:

More details from the Australian today, The legal letter alleges Nine’s new streaming strategy breaches the Broadcasting Services Act 1992, according to sources. .
Mr Gordon could also allege live-streaming breaches exclusivity conditions in his affiliation deal,
Nine points out that streaming is not covered by the statutory rules in the Broadcasting Services Act, which only regulates licence holders, and does not extend to internet-based TV services.
WIN Corp’s legal move has escalated the tension between metropolitan networks and their regional counterparts to a new level

WIN’s coming soon message on 85 and 86 now in Queensland plus 81 and 83 redirects.

Love it!
Old Boy clutching at straws again with his selective streaming legal action against Nine I see.
Shouldn’t he also be taking Seven and Ten to court as well as they stream into WIN Seven and WIN Ten markets as well?
Am sick of media reports that still mention Bruce as a Billionaire. The net worth of WIN would surely be under $150 million now, if that, and diminishing further by the day?

hey Deborah Wright, hows that new gig of Director of Regional Strategy working out for you this week? :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh WIN. It’s 2016. Viewers want to be able to watch anywhere anytime and view shows on demand via apps, mobiles, iPads and Apple TV. That’s not where the world is headed - that’s where we are now.

And you want your viewers to be shackelled to your linear broadcasts.

This forward thinking rom Australia’s self proclaimed “largest television network”

Instead of suing Nine to take these services away from regional Australians - they should be working with Nine to work out ways to monetize it and localize the streams.

…oops wrong topic. :stuck_out_tongue:

He was actually listed in the BRW Rich List 2015 at over $1 billion. His holdings in Nine and Ten are worth about $350 million, and these are far from his only investments, let alone cash - last year he offered Ten another $100 million pending ownership law changes.

Is WIN trying to act like Russia or China by trying to censure the net?

If I was the judge I’d swiftly without hesitation dismiss the law suit.

WIN is wrong to take nine to court over 9now.

Instead WIN should be streaming the local news online rather than taking nine to court over 9now.
