When was the last time this was shown live on tv?

Usually been highlights packages I believe, Seven had a deal circa 2015 and then Nine had a one hour highlights in 2019. Not sure about recent years, but last year I believe it was just live-streamed on their app, FB live and YouTube.

It was covered by TVO in the 80s if that helps

It was announced this morning that the Australian Open golf would return to Melbourne this year. It would be held from November 28 to December 1, and shown live on Nine and Fox Sports.

It was discussed on 3AW radio Breakfast with Ross and Russ* this morning and I think either an MP responsible or a Golf Australia/Aus Open Golf boss.

Wide World of Sports seems to have the rights to everything now! It’s like Seven and them have flipped the past half a decade…

And Todd ‘Everywhere’ Woodbridge (on three programs on Wednesday night - TP, TP prime time special and Wimbledon) is usually involved on the fairway or at least was. A big golf fan and player.

So much meaningless marketing language in that Melbourne Cup article. It actually reveals nothing about what their coverage will look like and how the partnership with TabCorp is going to work.

Wonder if they’ll move to main channel if Australians progress, I feel they did that once? The women’s and men’s final at least deserves main channel, outside of The Today Show.

Georgie could be used in summer during the tennis

No chance, unless an Australian makes the final which is extremely unlikely

“Nine’s Wide World of Sports” :boom:

Get everything, kill Seven.

And AFL… The one they nearly got, the one that got away.

But at least kept Origin and to a lesser glow NRL GF with NRL premiership season still delivering shares and premium ad rates into Nsw and Qld markets during the year.

Looking at those options you have listed:

If they still had the SpeedSeries, I might have thought a chance, but probably not now.

They do have relationships there (Peter V’landys through the NRL and the VRC through their Melbourne Cup deal), might be tough to match Seven’s 52 weeks of racing.

Signed this year through 2031, and I wouldn’t think there would be much interest.

If they happen, and you would probably want them on the cheap

This one they will likely go hard after, it is one of the key backbones to the Stan Sport platform (along with Grand Slam Tennis).
